Pioneer holds National Technical Honor Society ceremony

SHELBY — Pioneer Career & Technology Center is celebrating 26 new members of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). The induction ceremony was held March 22. Each member received their certificate of award and National Technical Honor Society Honor Cord.

In order to meet the criteria of this honor, students should be good, honest, responsible student citizens who have made a personal commitment to excellence and who agreed to uphold the NTHS Standards of Conduct. NTHS members must also meet the requirements that include grade point average, attendance, recommendations and more.

The NTHS honorees are:

Donations sought for Ashland County rummage sale

ASHLAND — Ashland County Cancer Association is currently accepting donations for a rummage sale coming up June 8-10 at the Ashland County Fairgrounds. Proceeds from the sale are used to help cancer patients with their treatments, rides to treatments, nutritional supplements, wigs and much more.

The association is seeking donated items as well as volunteers to help with organizing and sorting the items. Acceptable donations include purses, crafts and sewing, electronics, household and home decor, kitchenware, bed and bath, games, jewelry, kids items, pet items, sports and outdoor items, furniture, tools and new and pre-loved infant to adult clothing and shoes.

Variety show in Loudonville

LOUDONVILLE — American Legion Post 257 in Loudonville will host its annual variety show, "Blame It On Our Roots," at 7:30 p.m. April 21-22 at the Ohio Theatre, 156 N. Water St., Loudonville. Tickets are $5 per person. Children 6 and under get in free. There are no reserved seats. Tickets can be purchased at the door by cash or check only.

Ashland Jazz Society welcomes crooner Brian Michael Smith

ASHLAND — The Big Bands & All That Jazz Society of Ashland welcome crooner Brian Michael Smith at 7 p.m. Monday as he presents a special evening of the music of Frank Sinatra. Smith, from Columbus, will be accompanied by the John Vermeulen Octet who specializes in West Coast jazz.

This concert is free and open to the public, and will be held at the First Christian Church at 1425 King ROAD in Ashland. Donations and memberships are welcome at the door. The church is wheelchair accessible.
