Life imitates ‘When it rains it pours’ song by Luke Combs in IL Lottery

CHICAGO, Ill. – One man is resonating with the popular country song “When It Rains It Pours” by Luke Combs after winning $1 million on the lottery post-breakup.

Change the lyrics, “And by Tuesday, you could say that girl was good as gone…then I won a hundred bucks on a scratch-off ticket,” to say $1 million instead, and it would be a perfect match for this Illinois Lottery winner.

“I’ve been going crazy keeping this million-dollar secret,” the lucky winner said in a news release. “I don’t have a special someone to share my big news with because my girlfriend and I broke up three days before I bought the winning ticket. You can say I haven’t had much luck in the love department but that’s alright, because now I really hit the jackpot!”

While the $1 million winner may not have someone special to share the news with, he is excited for his lucky break.

“After I scratched the winning ticket, I completely panicked,” he shared. “I immediately felt my life change. I almost didn’t go to work!”

The winning Monopoly 50x ticket was purchased from a Walmart around 20 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, according to the Illinois Lottery.

Over 7.8 million winning Illinois Lottery tickets have been sold this year, adding up to over $190 million in prizes.

The odds of winning the Monopoly 50x scratch-off are 1 in 2,036,500.
