Life on Mars co-creator Matthew Graham has confirmed that tonight's (April 1) fan rewatch on Twitter will reveal details on plans for the "Final Chapter" of the story.
The beloved time-travelling cop drama originally broadcast on BBC One from 2006 to 2007, and centred on modern-day policeman Sam Tyler (John Simm), who wakes up in 1973 after a car accident.
2008 saw the arrival of Ashes to Ashes, a three-series sequel bringing back several characters from Life on Mars and introducing new time-traveller Alex Drake (Keeley Hawes), who instead goes back to the '80s.
Posting on Monday (March 30), Graham teased his Twitter followers, writing: "Now then – if you are tuning into the #LifeOnMarsLive tweet sesh this Wed April 1st at 7pm UK time – you will be first to hear details of what we are planning for the Final Chapter of the LoM story!!".
As to what this means is pure guesswork at the moment, but perhaps we'll be getting a third series set in this universe?
Fans can only hope, although it might not be as likely as it seems given how Ashes to Ashes concluded.

Graham's tweet has since welcomed a whole host of excited responses, with actress Kate Magowan (who's married to Life on Mars star Simm) teasing: "Ooh .... I will be tuning in (possibly with a certain someone nearby) [winking emoji]."
"The return of the best TV show ever made? Please let this be true," added someone else.
Set your alarm for 7pm UK time, or the Gene Genie will be having words.
