The event took place Sept. 9 at the Sailfish Club and served as both a welcome back luncheon for major donors and as a celebration of another trip around the sun for founder Herme deWyman Miro.

She's 103. Yup, you read that right. That's a lot of frequent flyer miles.

The afternoon began with a reception and lots of nice-to-see-you-agains before the guests moved to the dining room for lunch and remarks from Judith Zerfoss, executive administrator of the International Society; Vice President Herbert Roemmele, who gave the invocation; and then the birthday girl herself.

Herme told the audience how much she had missed being together and what a joyous occasion it was to be with each other again. She thanked hostess Milly Park, accompanied by her mother Dilia Ojedo. Milly's husband, Patrick, host for the afternoon, was out of state tending to family elders and could not attend. In Patrick’s absence, Milly read a letter from him to Herme.

Dick Robinson, the society's second vice president, appeared via a prerecorded video greeting. Dick and wife Sally were unable to attend but were represented by daughter Missy Robinson.

The afternoon continued with music by pianist Carol Blanton, and pop tenor Ghaleb Emachah and violinist Orlando Forte performing vocals with classical and flamenco guitar melodies.

More than 70 people attended, including Florence Seiler and Bill McBride, Elayne Flamm, Sara Pietrafesa, Barbara Anderson, Sandy Shepherd, Lisa Schor, Natalie Reilly, Monica Rodriguez, Laura Walters, Arlette Gordon, Ginny Vaughan, Marisella Garcia, Sharon Lee Parker, Helene Karp, Suzi and Rick Goldsmith, Michael Dixon, Dr. David and Donna Dodson, Ania and Zbig Scheller, Judi Regal, Stephen Lindsay, Lee Ann Alderton, Ashley and Julian Stoopler, Peggy and Bill Johnson, Judge Ann Vitunac and Tony Yanketis, Denise Kalland, Dante Colussy and Connie Gordon, Geri and Frank Morrow, Paulette and Paul Noble, Lexye Aversa, and Helen and Lou Nicozisis.
