Life in prison sentence given man involved in 2018 Lehigh Acres child molestation
A man who was found guilty of lewd and lascivious molestation will serve life in prison.
Carlos Alberto Lobo, 35, was found guilty in April and sentenced Monday.
His case stemmed from incidents between March 1, 2018, and May 23, 2018, in the 300 block of Peerless Street, Lehigh Acres, involving a child who told an adult about the defendant touching her in a sexual manner.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crimes. Lobo fled the area after the crimes came to light.

The case also involved the mistaken arrest of a man with a similar name.
That man was arrested on Dec. 10, 2018, at his Cape Coral home, booked into Lee County Jail, photographed and subjected to repeated and intensive interrogation, the suit said. He was taken into custody and released the same day.
The man repeated his pleas of innocence and confusion, and when a Sheriff's Office detective took his photo to the victim’s family, they confirmed the man was not the correct person, documents state.
Once the detective learned he had the wrong person in custody, he requested his release.
The real wanted suspect, Carlos Alberto Lobo, was arrested on the charges on Jan. 18, 2019.
However, the false arrest led to a $100,000 lawsuit that was settled out-of-court in 2021.
The Sheriff's Office issued a statement indicating the suit has been settled: "At no time has the sheriff’s office admitted liability and there has been no determination that the sheriff’s office committed any wrongdoing.
