Life-Size Cutouts of Students in Philippine Elementary School as Pandemic Virtual Classes Continue

An elementary school teacher in the Philippines has come up with a novel way to recreate kids being back in the classroom – by making life-size cutouts – as classes across the country remain virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Footage by teacher Jayson Magan of Burol Elementary School in Looc, shows the cutouts of the students which he told local news were made by the kids’ parents.

According to ABS-CBN News, Magan said he is inspired to teach seeing the faces of the children, adding that remote learning is tough on teachers and students without signal or home visits.

Some 100 schools will begin a pilot return to in-person classes starting in November, according to Manila Bulletin. Credit: Jayson Magan via Storyful
