SINGAPORE — Singapore's riverfront dining and lifestyle hub, CQ @ Clarke Quay will officially be relaunched in the second quarter of 2024 following a round of refurbishing.

The property said in a media release on Thursday (1 February) that the hub, currently in its final stages of development, will introduce new and refreshed lifestyle, dining and entertainment options across three zones - The Riverfront (Blocks A and D), The Warehouses (Block B), and The Circuit (Blocks C and E).

The Riverfront (Blocks A and D)

New pet-friendly amenities like a hydration bay and pet waste stations are slated to open at The Riverfront in the first quarter of the year. Pet-licensed dining establishments will also be available, as well as the continuation of pet-friendly events like talks, workshops, and river walks in the coming months.

New food tenants include Chapters by Drinks & Co, Mexican bar and grill Sanchos, Grand Konak Turkish and Lebanese Cuisine, 24-hour concept Nana Thai Royale, and dessert cafe Overscoop. Duo F&B concept, Home Singapore, will operate as a cafe in the day, and transform into a live music lounge at night. Current live music bars and pub will remain open.

There will also be new wellness offerings including gym and fitness centre Bold Fitness and Natureland Spa.Therapy.

The Warehouses (Block B)

The restored The Warehouses, which will be opening in the first quarter, will feature a new “Fire Fish” mural, which created by artists Yip Yew Chong and tobyato.

The mural is inspired by Clarke Quay’s heritage as a Teochew enclave and bustling riverside trading port, the firewood trade in the area, the red and white Teochew bumboats that once lined the Singapore River, and coolies on Read Bridge.

Visitors can find heritage panels and bronze plate tiles throughout the area, narrating the rich history of the Singapore River.

The landing of Read Bridge has also been upgraded with steps doubling as seats and a communal space, as well as a new accessibility ramp. The seats incorporate original wood pieces from the TwaKows, historical cargo vessels that were previously located at CQ.

The Warehouses zone will also see new tenants such as music retailer, Swee Lee Clarke Quay, a cafe and bar concept, where fan events and live performances can be hosted. The store will have a click-and-collect counter and an exclusive "By Appointment Only" room.

The zone will also have a FairPrice Finest store with a grocer bar. Both tenants are slated to open by the end of February. East Treasure Chinese Restaurant has also recently reopened.

The Circuit (Blocks C and E)

The Circuit will see a revamped version of casual dining spot, SG Hawker. Food options include Michelin-recognised stalls like Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang and Xing Yun Chicken Rice. Zouk, Slingshot and other live music and entertainment outlets, remain open.

Lower daytime temperatures and new sustainability features

Existing angel canopies have been upgraded to reduce solar heat by 70 per cent and optimise daylight conditions. A new omni-directional fan, which can lower temperatures by approximately 2 degrees through evaporative mist cooling, will also be installed. The additions will reduce energy consumption by approximately 50 per cent, said CQ.

With the upgrade of the building's chiller plant, CQ's green building rating by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has been upgraded from Green Mark to a Green Mark GoldPLUS certification.
