More library choirs for over-60s to fight loneliness
More library choirs are being set up to combat loneliness among the over-60s in Gloucestershire.
The project which started in Longlevens, Gloucestershire, in December will be rolled out to Coleford and Tuffley libraries after a successful funding bid.
The groups were created to help people who are more than 60 years old cope with loneliness and isolation.
Gloucestershire County councillor David Norman said the choirs have been a "great success" and "offers the opportunity for people to meet new friends".
There is no requirement for any previous singing experience or for an audition, Mr Norman added.
The choirs will open in the two libraries from July 2024.
An experienced choir leader will guide the group and drink will be provided, along with time for people to socialise.
Refreshments will be provided and there will be plenty of time to socialise, make new friendships and chat.
