Veteran rider writes her horse into will
A veteran horse rider from East Sussex has written her horse into her will to prevent him from being abandoned.
Jacky Chandler, 77, from Blackboys, has owned horses since the 1950's and became the oldest person to qualify for the World Championships for Team GB in 2014.
Ms Chandler has owned Banjo for three years after his previous owner passed away without expressing any wishes for the horse's future.
She said banjo was her "reason to get up in the morning".
Banjo was found feral, "roaming the Brecon Beacons....and in need of a caring hand", Ms Chandler said.
She has made specific expressions of wishes in her will to secure his future.
"I’ve always loved having horses, but when I lost my husband in 2003, that was when it became a bigger part of my life," she added.
Ms Chandler is a member of Harry Hall’s One Club, a group which provides services for horse owners, including insurance and will writing advice.
