A big Bob's Birthday Bash, a Clarence Clemons tribute and more than 100 artists will be a part of the upcoming 2023 Light of Day WinterFest, which raises funds in the fight against Parkinson's and related diseases.

The 2023 schedule, which appears below, has just been released. The Birthday Bash, so named for festival founder Bob Benjamin, will feature performances by John Waite, Joe Grushecky & The Houserockers, Willie Nile, Dave Hause, Jesse Malin, The Weeklings, Joe D’Urso, Jill Hennessy, Williams Honor, Fantastic Cat and more on Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank.

The bash often includes an unannounced appearance by Bruce Springsteen. He's performed in 12 of the previous 21 Light of Days.

Jarod Clemons and the Late Nights, Glenn Alexander and Shadowland, Joe D’Urso and Stone Caravan, Jeffrey Gaines and Jeff Slate will perform a birthday tribute to the late Clarence Clemons on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the City Winery Loft in New York City.

Clarence Clemons was born Jan 11, 1942, in Norfolk, Va. Jarod is his youngest son.

Parkinson's affects nearly 1 million people in the United States and over 10 million worldwide, according to the Parkinson’s Foundation. It’s the second most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s, and is the 15th leading cause of death in the U.S.

There are also Light of Day events in Canada and Europe. The Light of Day Foundation funds research into possible cures, improved treatments, and support for patients (and their families and caregivers) who suffer from Parkinson's and the related diseases. Light of Day programs include Boxing for Bob, which uses boxing exercises to help with mobility.

The 2022 Winterfest was postponed from January to March due to a surge of COVID cases. In the past, the Birthday Bash took place at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, but concerts at the Paramount and Convention Hall have been canceled since August 2021. Asbury Park issued a notice of default to Madison Marquette, the retail developer of the city's boardwalk, over safety concerns and other issues at the Paramount.
