Light display opens Friday in Shipshe

Nov. 16—SHIPSHEWANA — Shipshewana is once again home to more than two million LED Christmas lights displayed, now longer than ever, in a 1.8-mile-long path of various light scenes this Christmas season.

Shipshewana's Lights of Joy drive-thru light display experience is open Friday through Sunday and then will be open seven days a week from Nov. 24-Dec. 31. (Exception: Closed Dec. 25-26).

Shipshewana Trading Place and Blue Gate Hospitality have partnered to bring the annual holiday experience to town with even more lights and displays than last year.

This year's display features 1.8 miles of holiday scenes and special features, drive-thru arches, a series of miniature displays featuring the night before Christmas, and many new displays and animatronics.

"Now in its sixth season, this new family tradition for many, continues to get better and longer with each year," said Brian Lambright, Business Development Director of Shipshewana Trading Place. "We are thrilled to provide families with a winter wonderland of dazzling lights and enchanting animatronics and this Christmas tradition offers families an opportunity to create cherished memories in Shipshewana."

Shipshewana's Lights of Joy will be set up on the grounds of the Shipshewana RV Park and will wind back and forth through dozens of displays. Visitors will enter at the grounds of the Shipshewana Flea Market on Ind. 5 and drive through the 1.8-mile course of Christmas light scenes, exiting onto C.R. 200 North.

"It is so exciting to witness the magic that unfolds in our quaint town during the holiday season," said Ryan Riegsecker, president of Blue Gate Hospitality. "Our investment in expanding the drive-thru light experience isn't just a commitment to our business, but a dedication to the joy and wonder families find here at Christmas. This truly unique experience lets us light up the hearts of our visitors and share the warmth of Shipshewana with all who pass through."
