Lightning Flashes During Tornado-Warned Storm in Northern Illinois

Buildings and vehicles were damaged after severe storms brought large hail and several likely tornadoes to parts of northern Illinois, west of Chicago, on Tuesday, February 27, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Much of the damage was reported in Barrington, a suburb northwest of Chicago, and in Geneva, a suburb west of Chicago in Kane County, according to local media.

This footage shows flashes of lightning and a large funnel cloud forming in Aurora, a few miles south of Geneva, according to the source.

The NWS said crews would be carrying out surveys to investigate the tornado reports. Credit: @TracyTezy via Storyful
