Lightning Flashes Through Sky in Southeast Mississippi

Lightning flashed through the sky in Laurel, Mississippi, on Tuesday, August 16, as the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a special weather statement in the region.

Footage and images posted to Twitter by user @chaser_jensen show the lightning storm.

Wesley Williams, a local meteorologist, said thunderstorms in the area would be capable of heavy rain, frequent lightning, and strong gusts.
