Lightning Forks Over Central Alabama

Severe thunderstorms threatened parts of Alabama with rain, wind, hail, and flash flooding on Thursday, July 21, the National Weather Service (NWS) reported.

Video from Lacy Wingard shows lightning forking over Hoover during Thursday’s storm.

The NWS had warned Hoover could see wind speeds of up to 60 mph and penny-sized hail. A flash flood warning was also in effect. The weather service advised area residents to “take these warnings seriously.” Credit: Lacy Wingard via Storyful
