Lightning Streaks Across Sky as Stormy Weather Hits Pelham, Alabama

Bolts of lightning were seen illuminating the night sky over Pelham, Alabama – about 20 miles south of Birmingham – on May 3, as forecasters issued weather warnings.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a significant weather advisory for Pelham on May 3, warning of hail and high winds. “Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle,” forecasters said.
