Lights Flicker Across Mexico City Following Powerful Earthquake

A powerful earthquake that struck near Acapulco, Mexico, on September 7, caused damage in the resort city and led to blackouts and flickering lights as far away as Mexico City.

Video shows the Mexico City night sky lighting up at random intervals, similar to other scenes seen across the city.

The earthquake took place around 8:48 pm on Tuesday, according to Mexico’s National Seismological Service. The US Geological Survey measured the quake’s magnitude at 7.0, while its Mexican counterpart placed the magnitude at 7.1. Credit: Davo Peñaloza via Storyful
