Lil Wayne wonders if he’s ‘worthy’ after not being ‘invited’ to upcoming Grammy Awards

Add Lil Wayne to the list of Grammy winners crying aloud about being snubbed by in 2020.

The platinum-selling hip hop icon — legally known as Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. — says he has not been invited to the upcoming 2021 Grammy Awards ceremony, scheduled for Jan. 31.

The rapper, who’s won five Grammys out of 24 career nominations, is now wondering whether the Recording Academy deemed his music “worthy” enough for him to score an invite to what is billed as “music’s biggest night.”

“As an artist, when I see da Grammys coming up & I’m not involved nor invited, I wonder. Is it me, my music, or just another technicality?” Wayne tweeted. “I look around with respect & wonder competitively, ‘Am I not worthy?’ Then I look around and see five Grammys looking back at me & I go to the studio.”

The New Orleans-bred lyricist garnered four Grammy wins for 2008's “Tha Carter III,” including Best Rap Album. His most recent win came in 2017 for “No Problem,” which won for Best Rap Performance.

This year, his chart-topping album, “Funeral,” received a nomination in the best recording package category, but the Young Money Records chieftain himself didn’t score any nods.

In addition to his 13th opus going No. 1 on the Billboard charts, the “Lollipop” rapper released the third installment to his popular mixtape series, “No Ceilings 3,” featuring collaborations with Young Thug, as well as three of his offspring. He followed up with “No Ceilings 3: Side B” with appearances by Rich The Kid, Big Sean, and 2 Chainz, among others.
