Lillian Dube admitted to hospital with renewed cancer scare

Lillian Dube returns to work after single mastectomy

Johannesburg - The Juice has learnt that veteran actress Lillian Dube was admitted to hospital with the recurrence of breast cancer.

Lillian has played an active role in creating awareness of breast cancer, and the importance of early detection ever since she was diagnosed with the disease in 2008.

The news of Lillian's relapse was first revealed at the annual Estee Lauder Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign dinner on Monday night. A special tribute was paid to Lillian, and fans have been asked to keep her in their prayers and thoughts.

Reliable sources have also confirmed the news to The Juice.

"Lillian was hospitalised and is undergoing cancer related treatment, but is doing very well," said the source.

During an interview with Afternoon Express in July this year, Lillian revealed that she discovered a lump in her breast through Soul City, where she played sister Bettina Khumalo for over 20 years.

Lillian explained that at the time they were shooting scenes that delved into self examination and routine check ups of a woman's breasts.

"I was sent for a biopsy which revealed the cancerous cells. Because early detection is key, I appeal to women over the age of 40 to go for annual mammograms."

The actress added that shortly after she was diagnosed she started bargaining with God. "I said to God: 'If you save me, I'm going to create awareness.' A lot of people aren't killed by Cancer, they are killed by ignorance."

We wish Lillian a speedy recovery!
