Lima's massive city mural adds splash of color

This Lima neighborhood has been splashed with color

creating the optical illusion of a massive city mural

Location: Lima, Peru

The artwork covers over 74 acres on San Cristobal Hill

(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) CREATOR OF 'COLOR ENERGIA' INITIATIVE AND MURALIST, DANIEL MANRIQUE, SAYING:"What we are doing here is communal work with all the neighbors, and we do it because it is important to change the environment through the use of colors. This hill was considered an unsafe area of the city, it was said that this neighborhood was dangerous. So, we decided to change that social stigma through art, which for me as a muralist, is the best tool to achieve it. We wanted to add color to the entire neighborhood and create a great design that draws the attention of all citizens as they pass by."
