Limestone County man charged with multiple counts of sex abuse

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A man in Limestone County has been charged with multiple counts of sex abuse of a child, court documents filed Friday reveal.

According to court documents, 33-year-old Homer Keith Hovis is charged with first-degree rape, two counts of sex abuse of a child less than 12 and two counts of first-degree sodomy.

The complaints filed in the case say the actions related to the charges happened between Jan. 1, 2023, and Nov. 17, 2023, for the sex abuse charges and from Jan 1, 2022, to Nov. 17, 2023, for both the rape and sodomy charges.

Documents say during these periods Hovis sexually abused and raped a girl under 12 years old. One of the complaints also describes sex acts done to a young boy.

A Limestone County Judge has ordered that Hovis be held without bond in connection with the rape charge pending a pretrial detention hearing and preliminary hearing on April 29.

According to jail records, Hovis was booked into the Limestone County Jail on Aug. 19, 2023. He is charged with possession of methamphetamine, violation of a domestic violence protection order and various warrants several dated the same day as the sexual abuse warrants.
