Lincoln Community Theatre opens 'Arsenic and Old Lace'

LINCOLN - Two murderous old ladies, a Theodore Roosevelt impersonator, and a theater critic in love. Mix those all together with the Lincoln Community Theatre organization and you have the uproariously funny dark comedy "Arsenic and Old Lace" by Joseph Kesserling.

The performances begin at at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23 and again Friday and Saturday, and conclude with a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday, June 26.

Directed by Tim Searby and Brandon Davis, this farce kicks off the official 50th anniversary season of LCT with a June play, a July musical, and a September gala, all in the auditorium at Lincoln Community High School.

“I’m just really enjoying this show,” said Davis, who has worked triple duty as co-director, LCT President, and actor for this show.

“We will finish the summer season with ‘Wizard of Oz,’ and I’m looking forward to just assisting where I can for that one.

“This has been a lot of work, but so much fun,” Davis continued. “All the pieces are coming together, and it’s so funny.”

The set, designed by Jeff Prince, was executed by the team of Jamie Voyles and Carolyn Schreiber, among many others, on the Dan McLaughlin Stage at LCHS.

The production staff also includes Lisa Kuhlman helping with costumes, Jill Voyles assisting with props, Timber Ziegler and Tegan Follis handling hair and makeup, and Katie Gosda and Keith Snyder serving as liaisons for the LCT Board of Directors for the production.

Programs, publicity and house will be handled by Carolyn Schreiber, Tammy Dietrich and Holly Woodhall.
