Lincoln County man faces attempted murder charges after shooting son

A Canton man is behind bars on attempted murder charges after court documents state he shot his son.

Arnold Robert March, 91, was booked this past weekend into the Minnehaha County Jail on charges of domestic first-degree attempted murder and domestic aggravated assault.

Court records state Saturday, March attempted "without authority of law and with a premeditated design" to kill his son.

March's bond sits at $500,000 cash, according to court documents.

He has been ordered to have no contact with the victim and his bond findings state he has no criminal history, but that his family "has safety issues."

The records did not state what condition his son was in at the time of March's arrest.

His next court date is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Nov. 7, according to court records. As of Tuesday morning, he had not been released.
