The Lincoln Day symposium and banquet featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Jon Meacham have been rescheduled to June 21 because of concerns over the surge in COVID-19 cases.

The Abraham Lincoln Association puts on the annual Benjamin P. Thomas Symposium, which draws some of the top scholars in the field of Lincoln studies. It also puts on the Thomas F. Schwartz Luncheon and banquet.

Meacham, who won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography for "American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House," will remain the banquet speaker for June 21.

Meacham's mother, Linda (McBrayer) Brodie, is a former Springfield resident and is married to the Very Rev. Robert Brodie, the former dean of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul (Episcopal) in Springfield. The couple now lives in Salem, Virginia.

Meacham was selected as the official biographer of President George H.W. Bush. He is the former editor-in-chief of Newsweek magazine and the author of "Truth Is Marching on: John Lewis and the Power of Hope" (2020).

Last year's Lincoln Symposium, which featured two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist and historian H.W. Brands, was a virtual event.
