Lincoln High School marching band supporters send off band to Bands of America competition

Lincoln High School marching band supporters and the Sioux Falls community at large applauded the award-winning band Tuesday night in its last public performance of its full field program, "Fabric of Time," before going to the Bands of America Super Regionals on Thursday.

The band will leave early Thursday morning, around 4:15 a.m., for the BOA competition in Indianapolis and will return late Sunday night.

So far this year, the band has placed second in their class at the Pursuit of Excellence marching band competition in Marshall, Minnesota on Sept. 23.

The LHS band also placed second in itsmclass, and second overall, in the finals competition at the BOA Regionals in Des Moines, Iowa, against 21 bands from Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Nebraska and Kansas on Sept. 30.

The band also placed second in its class, and second overall, in the finals competition at the Youth in Music Championships Oct. 14 in the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis against 35 bands from Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois, Wisconsin and South Dakota.

At this competition, the band also won best color guard in its class, and earned the overall best scores in music general effect and visual general effect, won the award for outstanding drum majors, and senior Mason Norberg was awarded a Youth in Music scholarship.

The Lincoln High School Patriot Marching Band will march in the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
