Lincoln Learning Solutions to host book giveaway in Midland on Saturday

MIDLAND – Local professionals looking to fill some of the empty spots in their early reading libraries will have a chance to get their hands on some free books this weekend.

Members of Lincoln Learning Solutions will be hosting their first "Great Book Giveaway" in Midland, distributing a surplus of books that no longer fit their updated curriculum to local teachers and educators. The nonprofit organization will distribute these supplies from 9 a.m. to noon at their warehouse at 518 Railroad St. on Saturday.

"Rather than adding all of this valuable material to the local landfill, our staff wanted to see that these professionally illustrated books that teach timeless lessons were put to good use,” said Bob Clements, CEO of Lincoln Learning Solutions. “As a nonprofit focused on education, we believe this event fits perfectly with our mission.”

According to the event organizers, local educators, librarians, pediatricians, child psychologists, therapists and other professionals who care for elementary-aged children will be eligible to receive books on Saturday. Professionals are asked to bring their own bags or boxes to receive the supplies, along with their professional identification.

Titles being distributed will include “Frog and Toad Are Friends,” “Encyclopedia Brown,” “Sarah, Plain and Tall” and “Freckle Juice.” The “Tales of Midlandia” series, which were written and illustrated by Lincoln Learning Solutions, will also be distributed. Flash card sets, classroom supplies and course kit items will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
