Lindenhurst Middle School Student Tests Positive For Coronavirus

LINDENHURST, NY — A Lindenhurst Middle School student tested positive for coronavirus, the school district announced on Thursday.

According to a letter from Superintendent Daniel Giordano, the student has not been in school since Tuesday and will not be allowed to return for at least 10 days and until health officials release them from isolation.

Contract tracing has begun and those who were considered to be in close contact with the student will receive a call from the local health department.

Close contacts begins 48 hours before the student became symptomatic, or 48 hours before they were tested for the COVID-19 virus if asymptomatic.

According to the New York State school COVID-19 report card, there are 11 positive coronavirus cases in the Lindenhurst School District as of Wednesday including four at Albany Avenue Elementary School, two at Lindenhurst Middle School, four at Lindenhurst High School and one at William Rall Elementary School.
