Line Of Duty cast react to fan disappointment over finale

After Line Of Duty fans took to social media to voice their disappointment over the show's season six finale, the actors have responded to all the negative opinions.

*Spoilers*

In case you missed it (how could you?), Line Of Duty concluded on Sunday evening on BBC One. And while some fans were happy with how the loose strings were pulled together, others felt like unmasking Ian Buckells as 'H' was a bit of an anticlimax.

"Waited 10 years for this disappointment," one person wrote, while someone else added, "I WANTED A BETTER ENDING. I NEEDED A BETTER ENDING."

Now, the likes of Martin Compston, who played AC-12's Steve Arnott, and Nigel Boyle, who played Buckells, have responded to the criticism, insisting the ending made sense and, unfortunately, you're never going to be able to please everyone.

Writing on Twitter, Martin said, "Hey folks, now the madness is slightly dying down just want to thank everybody who reached out about last night and the series as a whole, we've truly been blown away by the reaction and love for the show, we're proud of it.

"Fully understand it wasn't the 'urgent exit' type ending some anticipated but appreciate you sticking with us."

Nigel, meanwhile, added on BBC Breakfast (via Digital Spy), "The fans have been brilliant. So many people have invested so much in this series. Some of the fans' theories, themselves, have been outstanding. I think there's always going to be some element of disappointment.

"You can't have every series end with a big shoot-out, urgent exit required. Sometimes, the subtler message is more important. I sent a tweet out last night, and I jumped in a car and came over to the studio. I didn't really look at social media."

Fair enough. You can't win 'em all!
