Fans were left in disarray following the latest episode of the police drama, which saw AC-12 try inch closer to discovering who killed Gail Vella (Andi Osho).

What initially began as a relatively slow-paced episode, with Det Supt Ian Buckells (Nigel Boyle) being interviewed by AC-12, quickly descended into chaos as the team tried to move series four’s lawyer Jimmy Lakewell (Patrick Baladi) from prison to witness protection on the condition that he shared what he knew about Vella.

The convoy of cars was hijacked by the OCG, with a shoot out taking place between AC-12 and the masked criminals that culminated with DI Steve Arnott (Compston) shooting a sniper from his overturned van.

Jimmy then refused to speak out of fear for his own safety and was returned to prison, where he was killed by another inmate in front of Buckles.

While the episode left fans shocked, Scottish actor Compston admitted that his dad was slightly less impressed in a tweet shared on Sunday night.

“The most important reviews are in from my parents,” he wrote.

“My maw ‘incredible son absolutely loved it’ my Da ‘it had an interview scene and car crash ya prick’... keeps ye humble.”
