The most twisty show on BBC One just got even twistier, as tonight's penultimate episode (April 12) of The Nest hit fans with yet another baby shock.

The thriller series, which stars Line of Duty's Martin Compton and Peaky Blinders' Sophie Rundle ended on a major cliffhanger last week as their surrogacy plans with teenager Kaya (Mirren Mack) fell apart.

By the end of last week's instalment, it was hinted that Kian Dodds – who was killed and dumped in a river in the first episode – was the real father of Kaya's baby, and that Dan and Emily's implanted embryo had failed to produce them a child.

In tonight's episode, however, it was revealed that the baby wasn't Kian's after all. Not only that, a DNA test also showed no genetic match with Kaya, Dan or Emily, meaning Kaya must have been implanted with another couple's embryo.

Despite the baby not being theirs, Dan was adamant he and Emily should adopt it, since they'd seen Kaya through the entire birth. And while Emily initially seemed doubtful about the idea, her husband eventually got her on board.

In one last shock, however, as Dan and Emily went back to the hospital to visit the baby, they saw her being cradled by Kaya, who now seems to be having second thoughts about keeping the child.

With just one episode remaining, The Nest still has plenty of questions to answer. What will come of Kian Dodds' murder? Will Kaya keep the baby for herself? And who the hell are the genetic parents anyway?

The Nest concludes tomorrow night on BBC One at 9pm.
