Lions CB Desmond Trufant ruled out in Week 3 vs. Cardinals

The Detroit Lions will be without one of their starting cornerbacks as they take on the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at State Farm Stadium. Originally listed as doubtful on the team’s final injury report on Friday, the team announced on social media cornerback Desmond Trufant was downgraded and is out for Sunday’s game.

Trufant has a hamstring injury.

This will be tough for a Lions defense that has struggled this season. It will force rookie Jeff Okudah to have to match up against Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who leads the NFL in receptions.

However, as Trufant was already doubtful for the game, it doesn’t really change their plans.

But it does make two receiver/cornerback matchups worth watching. One is Okudah and Hopkins, while the other will now be Lions cornerback Amani Oruwariye against either KeeSean Johnson or Andy Isabella, both of whom will get playing time in the place of injured wideout Christian Kirk.
