List names ‘ugliest’ city in each New England state

There are some truly beautiful cities across the United States and, well, there are some downright ugly ones.

After analyzing reviews by residents in all 50 states on sites like Niche and Reddit, the website ALOT compiled its “Ugliest Cities in Each State” list.

“Whether it’s from lack of maintenance or just poor design choices, these fifty spots are more than an eyesore. They may be great places to live, but these cities won’t be winning beauty contests anytime soon,” ALOT said.

Brockton was dubbed the “ugliest” in Massachusetts.

“The only architecturally interesting part of Brockton is City Hall,” ALOT wrote. “The rest of the buildings are organized like a budget version of Paris with all of the straight-edged roads, squished townhouses, and a famous library.”

Here are the ugliest cities in each New England state, according to ALOT:

  • New Haven, Connecticut

  • Howland, Maine

  • Brockton, Massachusetts

  • Somersworth, New Hampshire

  • Harrisville, Rhode Island

  • Essex Junction, Vermont
