Here’s a list of upcoming Horry County closures as forecasters predict winter storm

The Myrtle Beach area is expected to be in the path of a winter storm, raising alarm for dangerous driving conditions and other disruptions.

Forecasters from the National Weather Service expect freezing rain, sleet, snow or a combination of the three. In anticipation of the storm, which is set to begin Friday morning, several public offices and businesses have announced their closures for the day.

Here’s a list of what’s been closed so far. It’s not a comprehensive list, and it will continue to be updated, so if you know of a closure that’s not on this list, email reporter Mary Norkol at mnorkol@thesunnews.com

Horry County winter storm closures

  • Horry County Schools will hold classes online Friday and all district buildings will be closed. Athletics and activities are also canceled.

  • The City of Myrtle Beach offices and facilities will be closed Friday and Saturday. Public safety services will operate as usual.

  • Horry County government facilities will be closed Friday through Sunday, including the Horry County Museum, L.W. Paul Living History Farm, recreation and community centers and libraries. Public safety departments will continue operations.

  • Coastal Carolina University will hold classes online Friday.

  • Horry Georgetown Technical College will operate remotely Friday.

  • Georgetown County offices will close at noon Friday.

  • The Georgetown County landfill and community recycling center will close at 1 p.m. Friday and reopen at noon Saturday.

  • Georgetown County library branches will be closed all day Friday.

  • The Coast RTA transportation system won’t provide service on Saturday. Routes are altered on Friday. To see the updated routes, visit the Coast RTA website.

  • The Horry County landfill and material recycling facility will remain open as long as weather permits on Friday.

  • All Horry County Solid Waste Authority facilities will be closed Saturday.

  • Horry County recycling centers usually open on Sundays will open Sunday at 1 p.m., weather permitting. All other Solid Waste Authority facilities will be closed Sunday.

  • Surfside Beach town hall and offices will be closed Friday. Emergency services will continue to operate.

  • Tanger Outlets — both the Highway 501 location and the Highway 17 location — will close at 4 p.m. Friday.
