Lister will discuss his third book in the Burke and Blade Mystery series, “All Night Long,” which was released July 11. Books will be available for sale and signing at both events.

“Everything is the raw material of inspiration. I’m continually inspired by true crime and my family and friends,” Lister said when asked about the inspiration for his new series. “I’m inspired by my part of the world. I love North Florida and the people who inhabit it inspire me every day.”

About 'All Night Long'

In “All Night Long,” the book continues the story of Lucas Burke and Alix “Blade” Baker — two unlikely private investigators based in Panama City Beach who were orphaned when they were young and raised in children’s homes and foster care. The duo specializes in missing persons cases and is led to solving the case of their sister’s disappearance.

Growing up in foster care and children’s homes has made them tough, savvy and streetwise. It also has given them a network of foster brothers and sisters who can aid them in their toughest cases.

Brooklyn Hill goes missing while on a pub crawl during her bachelorette weekend in Panama City Beach, and Burke and Blade are called in to do what no one else has been able to — find her. Or at least figure out what happened to her.

The Burke and Blade series began with last year’s “The Night Of,” followed by “The Night in Question,” and continues with “All Night Long.” The true crime cases that have inspired the Burke and Blade series so far are Asha Degree, Maura Murray, Brian Shaffer and Brandon Lawson.

Michael Lister's 25-year career as a novelist

“I love a good mystery,” Lister said. I study both true crime and mystery fiction and find plenty of inspiration and instruction for my novels.”

This year marks Lister’s 25th anniversary as a novelist. The native Floridian is best known for his acclaimed John Jordan “Blood” mystery thriller series. Captivated by story since childhood, Lister has a love for language and narrative inspired by the Southern storytelling tradition that captured his imagination and became such a source of meaning and inspiration.

“I love Panama City and Panama City Beach,” Lister said. “And I love writing about them. The last time I set a mystery series here was in the 1940s, and that was a lot of fun, but being able to actually visit the places I’m writing about and to feature the places I enjoy the most has been such a blast.”

His latest John Jordan novel is “Out for Blood,” which dives into a new mystery of solving the case of the murder of someone close to Jordan. According to a Publisher’s Weekly review, “Out for Blood” is one of the most stunning, significant and heartbreaking John Jordan mystery thrillers to date.

“Lister expertly balances emotion and detection while doling out logical, gut-wrenching twists,” the review stated. “This series shows no signs of losing steam.”
