Litchfield finds continued success with 36-14 win over Burr Oak

BURR OAK, Mich. — The Terriers, in their second game under new head coach Michael Langhann, have added to their impressive start with a 36-14 win over Burr Oak. The Terriers now have two double-digit wins to start the season. The team broke their 20-game losing streak in week one and now the Terriers have the community and the team believing they can break down even more records in 2022.

Their week two win over conference rival Burr Oak did have it's highs and lows. Burr Oak came ready to play in the first half of game action, but Brandon Campbell returned an interception for a last second touchdown to send the Terriers into the locker room with momentum.

The Terriers showed off their big play ability throughout the game, with senior and Athlete of the Week Winner Logan Buehrle taking a run from inside the Terrier goal line to the house. The 90 yard rushing touchdown helped carry the senior to 119 total rushing yards. The senior also hauled in 25 receiving yards.

Quarterback Tyler Bills had his hands on the ball for 192 total yards of passing. He completed 10 passes and scored two touchdowns, throwing one interception. One of those passes was a 20 yard toss to Junior Alvarez for a fourth quarter touchdown. Brandon Campbell had five yards receiving and Robbie Bradstreet had eight yards of receiving.

Miguel Pedroza had a terrific night catching the ball for the Terriers, hauling in 134 total yards. Pedroza was an All-Area Dream Team specialist last season, showcasing his ability to return kicks for touchdowns. Pedroza continued to use that skillset this season, taking a kick return 75 yards for a touchdown against Burr Oak. In total, he had three returns for 132 net yards. The Senior showed up on the defensive side of the ball in week two, bringing down the Bobcats six times.

Leading the Terriers in tackles was Andrew Erhardt with 10.5 total tackles, including one for a loss. Erhardt recorded a safety. Buehrle had 10.5 tackles; Brandon Campbell with 9.5; Jerome Vasquez with seven; Hunter Snyder with 6.5; Alvarez with six; McCafferty with five; Bradstreet with five and John Creger with four.

Coach Langhann saw big improvement from his team in several areas, and he was particularly impressed with the linebacker play from his Terriers.

"Defensively, Andrew Erhardt stepped in big at inside linebacker for us," said coach Langhann. "Our kids flew to the ball and really played big in the second half."

The Terriers head into Labor Day Weekend with a 2-0 record and they will have a chance to make it 3-0 when they host North Adams-Jerome for a Saturday afternoon matchup on Sept. 10. The 12 p.m. start will see the Terriers take on an 0-2 Rams team looking to bounce back after two losses.
