Rain Taxi Review is ending its 2022 event series with a terrific holiday gift to readers — a free virtual launch of Judith Thurman’s new book “A Left-Handed Woman” — in conversation with two of her Minnesota author/fans, Louise Erdrich and Kate DiCamillo. All three women have won National Book Awards and Erdrich received the Pulitzer Prize.

Thurman, described as one of the pre-eminent essayists of our time, selected some of her essays and profiles for her new book. A staff writer at the New Yorker, Thurman considers in “A Left-Handed Woman” culture in all its guises — literature, history, politics, gender, fashion, art and more. Among Thurman’s previous books are “Cleopatra’s Nose: 39 Varieties of Desire,” “Isak Dinesen: The Life of a Storyteller,” and “Secrets of the Flesh: A Life of Colette.”

The program will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7. Registration is required: raintaxi.com/judith-thurman/.
