Little Britain's David Walliams and Matt Lucas apologise for offensive blackface characters
Matt Lucas and David Walliams have expressed their regrets over portraying blackface characters in their shows Little Britain and Come Fly with Me.
In light of the Black Lives Matter movement, both comedy series were removed from Netflix and BBC iPlayer this month due to the offensive nature of some material.
The pair simultaneously posted statements on their social media on Saturday evening (June 13), with Lucas tweeting: "David and I have both spoken publicly in recent years of our regret that we played characters of other races.
"Once again, we want to make it clear that it was wrong and we are very sorry."

Walliams shared similar words: "Matt & I have both spoken publicly in recent years of our regret that we played characters of other races. Once again we want to make it clear that it was wrong & we are very sorry."
A BBC spokesperson previously confirmed to Digital Spy that Little Britain was no longer available on iPlayer, noting how "times have changed" since the series first aired.
"There's a lot of historical programming available on BBC iPlayer, which we regularly review," they added.
