A six-year-old girl in Detroit, Michigan, paid homage to former professional boxer Laila Ali in a video celebrating Black History Month.

Kenya White filmed her daughter Rosie portraying Ali. White told Storyful that while Rosie is known to portray notable black women all year round, Black History Month is her favourite time of year.

“Black History Month is her favorite time of the year because she gets to dress more than once a month and reflect her black roots as more than trauma or slavery,” White told Storyful.

In the video, Rosie jabs next to a punch bag and recites facts about Ali.

“I am Laila Ali, an ex professional boxer. I competed from 1999-2007. I’m sure you’ve heard of my dad Muhammad Ali. He was a boxer too. I am one of the greatest female boxers of all time,” Rosie said. Credit: Kenya White via Storyful
