Little League: Astros edge Laskey's, 6-4, in Hermitage Major Division action

May 21—HERMITAGE MAJOR

— Hermitage UPMC Astros 6, Sharon Laskey's 4 — With the score knotted at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Lincoln Breit took matters into his own hands and smashed a solo home run to give the Astros the lead. The Astros would get one more insurance run in the win.

Mason Allison had two hard-hit singles, which scored two runs for the Astros. Dante

Evans doubled (one RBI), Aaden Dancak singled and Marcus Frazier chipped in with a single for the Astros.

For Sharon Laskey's, J.J Litman had two hard-hit balls with a single and a double, while Iron Brodie had a single, the only other hit for Laskey's. Brodie also had an an RBI.

Aaden Dancak threw four innings for the Astros, striking out seven while allowing two hits and two earned runs. Dante Evans pitched the last two innings to get the save for the Astros.

Lampkins pitched five innings for Laskey's, striking out eight while allowing five hits and five runs. Litman finished the fifth inning for Laskey's.

— Hermitage Bayer Crete Phillies 8, Alfredo's Insurance 6 (7 inn.) — Jordan Bochert and Maddox Burke had RBI singles for the Phillies (3-2). Gavin Fielde finished with three singles, Colton Martin had two hits, Nolan Golub singled and doubled and Ar'Mir Frieson doubled.

Bochert picked up the win after striking out two in the seventh inning. Luke Becker, the Phillies' starting pitcher, struck out six and surrendered two hits in three innings. Frieson struck out three and allowed three hits in 1 2/3 innings, and Golub struck out a pair with a hit allowed in 1 1/3 innings pitched.

Tino Gavin came up a triple shy of the cycle for Alfredo's. Gavin had a two-run home run, double and a single. Nick Fromm, Grant Fiscus and Sweeney each singled.

Fromm pitched 2 2/3 innings as the starter. Gavin and Vinnie Donatelli also pitched in relief.

SHARPSVILLE YOUTH BASEBALL

— The Ross Aviation White Sox 18, Jodie Nicholes Jokers 8 — Leadoff hitter Colten Ross hit a line drive single to the outfield on the first pitch of the game and stole home to set the tone for the White Sox.

Cooper Nelson was on the bump for the White Sox and pitched 3 2/3 innings, surrendering two earned runs and striking out six while earning the win. Westin Breit (two strikeouts) pitched 1 1/3 innings to close out the contest.

Ross Aviation collected seven hits with Nelson finishing a hit and three RBI. Toren Ross (four stolen bases) and Colten Ross both had a hit and two RBIs. Kai Henry and Wyatt Gassner also had RBI hits to pace the White Sox.

Offensively for the Jokers, Griffin Taylor, Cael Kettering (one RBI) and Hunter Raiti each had two hits. Kaleb McAdoo had a two-RBI single and Kaden Kendall laced an RBI single.

Taylor struck out five to lead the Jokers' pitchers. Emmitt Nehlen (two strikeouts), Raiti (two strikeouts) and Obenrader (one strikeout) also pitched for the Jokers.
