The Little Mermaid's new live-action remake has unveiled a first look at classic song 'Kiss the Girl'.

One of the staples of the original 1989 Disney animated movie, a short clip from the new version was released at the MTV Movie & TV Awards over the weekend.

In it, we see the new version of the scene where Ariel (Halle Bailey) and Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) come close to embracing on a boat, as the various characters sing the song around them.

A new teaser trailer has also been released, which previews arguably the movie's most iconic tune, 'Under the Sea'.

It comes after it was recently revealed that some lyrics to classic songs including 'Kiss the Girl had been updated for the remake.

"There are some lyric changes in 'Kiss the Girl' because people have gotten very sensitive about the idea that [Prince Eric] would, in any way, force himself on [Ariel]," composer Alan Menken explained.

Meanwhile, the first reactions from the movie have just swum in, which have been largely positive – though they suggest the film isn't without its flaws. However, many have shared praise for Bailey's turn as Ariel.

Alongside Bailey, Hauer-King and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, The Little Mermaid also stars Javier Bardem as King Triton, Noma Dumezweni as new character Queen Selina, while Jacob Tremblay voices Flounder, Awkwafina takes on the role of Scuttle and Daveed Diggs plays Sebastian.

The movie is also set to be the longest of the Disney live-action remakes, clocking in at two hours and 15 minutes.

The Little Mermaid live-action movie opens on May 26 in the UK and the US. The animated movie is streaming on Disney+.
