Little Theatre of Fall River presents 'Blood Brothers' musical through Oct. 30

FALL RIVER — “So did y’hear the story of the Johnstone Twins?... How one was kept and one given away?”

You can hear the story for yourself, now through Oct. 30, as the Little Theatre of Fall River presents the award-winning musical "Blood Brothers," at The Firebarn, 340 Prospect St. at Highland Ave.

"Blood Brothers" is a unique combination of gripping story with a dramatic musical score, which made it a hit in the West End, where it played for 24 years.

It tells the story of a financially struggling mother who, in desperation, gives away one of her twin boys at birth to her wealthy childless employer. Unaware of their blood ties and despite their vastly different upbringing, the boys grow up to become best friends, and then rivals, both falling in love with the same girl.

Directed by Deborah Sadler, Little Theatre of Fall River is proud to finish a production that was cancelled halfway through a two-week run due to COVID-19 in 2020. This production also features impressive set design by Aaron Gendreau-Visco and musical direction by Bobby Perry.

In a press release, Sadler stated she is “so delighted to bring this thrilling folk opera to our Little Theatre audiences. It has been my honor to explore themes like Nature vs. Nurture, Upper vs. Lower Class, and Superstition vs. Fate with such a talented cast of actors!”
