Little Tokyo Expands Al Fresco Dining In Downtown Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, CA — Restaurants in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, are expanding open-air, summertime-dining options with added picnic tables and patio umbrellas, providing patrons more spots to sit and enjoy authentic takeout from establishments in Japanese Village Plaza, off First Street and the Honda Plaza.

Restaurants in the cultural hub are offering the outdoor dining, along with to-go or curbside pick-up. Coronavirus-related, safety protocols are in place, and Little Tokyo visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance.

Participating Honda Plaza eateries include: Sushi Gen; Aloha Café; Pasta e Pasta by Allegro; Men Oh Tokushima Ramen; BBQ Chicken DTLA; Tea Master Matcha Café and Green Tea Shop; Tous Les Jours Bakery Café; and The Mermaid gastropub. Kagaya Restaurant and Kinjiro plan to open soon.

In the Japanese Village Plaza, patio diners can choose from such options as crispy takoyaki from TaNoTa Takoyaki or Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki from Chinchikurin. Other restaurants offering outdoor eating spaces include: Kagura; Café Dulce; and T.O.T. Patrons also can enjoy a rooftop, open-air space and a special menu at Izakaya Fu-ga’s new beer garden.

Little Tokyo's traditional Nisei Week Japanese Festival will go on this year in a virtual format Aug. 15-16 with musical performances, culinary and cultural demonstrations. Check here for details.
