LBJ’s Sedrick Alexander, a Vanderbilt commit, who broke the AISD career rushing record last week leads an offense that has proved unstoppable for most of the season as the Jaguars average over 58 points a game.

Elgin has qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2014 after suffering through a winless 0-10 season in Heath Clawson’s first season in 2021.

Defending 5A DII runner-up Liberty Hill is looking to make another deep playoff run as the 9-1 Panthers open their playoff schedule against 5-5 San Antonio Highlands.

Coach Kent Walker’s slot-T offense averages almost 52 points a game behind a bruising running attack that is led by junior running back Noah Long.

Long, who set a personal goal of 2500 rushing yards for the season, is just 641 yards short of that mark, is sure to get near or even surpass the lofty goal if the Panthers make another deep playoff run.

In other 5A DII playoff openers, 7-3 Lockhart matches up against 7-3 SA Burbank, McCallum (7-3) squares off with 5-5 Waco University.

Crockett (6-4) travels to Bible Stadium to face 5-5 Rouse, while Northeast sports a 4-5-1 record into its contest against 8-2 Belton.

After earning a share of the District 11-5A DI title last week with a 40-14 romp over Cedar Park, Georgetown will take its 6-game winning streak to New Braunfels where the Eagles will meet NB Canyon (9-1) at Cougar Field.

Georgetown’s offensive balance has been a key to success as the Eagles have averaged over 455 yards per game, 244 in the air behind the right arm of junior quarterback Noah Booras. Booras, who replaced an injured Tucker Griffin in the Eagles loss to Liberty Hill in week 3, has completed over 76% of his passes with 29 scoring throws.

Westlake Cruises; Wolves Fall; Cochran May Not Play for Dragons

Westlake took care of business last night, winning its 51st consecutive game, as the Chaps routed Cedar Ridge 58-10 in a 6A DI bi-district affair.

Vandegrift’s only loss came at the hands of Dripping Springs back on opening night 23-20 as Walker Wright hit a last-second 40-yard field goal to give the Tigers the win.

Buchanan’s favorite receiving target is Miles Coleman, who leads the receiving corps with 66 grabs for 1165 yards and 9 scores.

While not throwing as much as Buchanan, Bowie field general Connor Kenyon is not a stranger to success. Kenyon has passed for 21 scores, including 9 to Nehemiah Smith Livingston.

Bowie has not played in 14 days as last week’s regular season finale against Lake Travis was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Lake Travis’ 5-4 record may not be what it appears to be as the Cavs losses have come at the hands of squads that are all in the 6A playoffs and boast a combined 38-2 record.

Without Edmundson, Nico Hamilton has picked up the offensive workload has he gained 968 yards on the ground while piercing the endzone 11 times.

On the season Cochran, who averages over 225 yards total yards per game, has rushed for 20 scores and has thrown for 10 more.

In a Region 4 DII tilt, 9-1 Dripping Springs hosts 7-3 Manor in a battle of teams with Power 5 offensive commits.

On the opposite sideline, the Mustangs feature Southern Cal running back commit Quinten Joyner. Joyner rushed for 326 yards in last week’s must win game to push Manor into the playoffs.
