Replay: Austin-area high school football kicks off Week 7 games Friday

Northeast football seeks help with athletic facilities as the Raiders gear up for a run to a possible postseason slot. LBJ's Sedrick Alexander has his sights on the Austin school district rushing record as the Jags hit the backstretch of the season. And last week Crockett quarterback Cameron Dickey set the pace for all of Central Texas as he scored eight touchdowns in the Cougars' win over LASA.

Glenn Stays Unbeaten in District Play

In a final from Leander, Glen stays unbeaten in 11-5A D1 by rolling past East View 31-21.

In another 11-5A D1 contest, College Station blanks Cedar Park 17-0. The Wolves have been shut out twice this year while only being shut out once in the last 7 years. (Thanks Mike Barnes for the tidbit).

In other action, Belton pounds Rouse 43-20. Also in 5A Division II action, Bastrop wins for the second consecutive week as the Bears thump Cedar Creek 54-14.

San Marcos wins its district opener, holding off Schertz Clemens 28-24.

Hutton falls to Harker Heights at home 42-14.

In 4A action, Wimberley runs past Jarrel 73-14.

Weiss Routs Copperas Cove

Weiss bested Copperas Cove 51-20 to earn its first 6A district win for coach Steve Van Meter.

Meanwhile Wimberley is up on Jarrell 66-7 in the fourth while SA Davenport leads Taylor 32-29 in the fourth

Vista Ridge Keeps Pace with Dragons and Vipers

After Vista Ridge's 27-16 come from behind win over Westwood, the Rangers are tied with Round Rock and Vandegrift at 3-0 in District 25 -6A.

Next week that will change as Vista Ridge takes on Stony Point, while Vandegrift squares off with Round Rock.

SA Davenport is up on Taylor 19-16 in the 4th, while Liberty Hill completes its comeback by dowing SA Veterans Memorial 56-49.

Lake Travis is up on Del Valle 49-7 in the fourth, while Lampasas is beating Burnet 24-74.

Finals Trickling In

Finals from the area are starting to come in and here are a few:

Georgetown 70, Leander 16 - (it's the second week in a row that the Eagles have scored 70)

Cedar Ridge 44, Stony Point 20 - Cedar Ridge moves to 2-1 in district, while the Tigers slip to 0-3)

Round Rock 17, Manor 7 (Round Rock still on top of district with 3-0 record)

Elgin 38, Killeen Chaparral 13 (Elgin 5-2 overall, 2-1 in district action)

Hays Rallies to Get Back on Top

After relinquishing the lead, Hays has regained a 7-point lead with Kyree Adams exploding for a 77-yard TD run. The Hawks lead 41-34 with :43 remaining in the 3rd quarter.

Harker Heights has taken a 21-17 lead over Hutto, while SA Davenport leads Taylor 12-9 in the 3rd. Cedar Ridge continues to lead Stony Point as the Raiders are up 37-20 over STony Point with 2:10 remaining.

Canyon Takes the Lead

In a wild one, NB Canyon has taken a 34-27 lead over Hays as Deuce Adams fired a 20-yard TD pass to Daniel Inman. The Cougars are looking to knock Hays from the unbeaten ranks and move to the top of the district standings.

In other District 12-5A D1 action, Smithson Valley is trounching Lehman 41-0 in the 4th.

SA Davenport leads Taylor 9-7 at halftime while Liberty Hill has rallied to tie SA Veterans Memorial 42-42 in the 3rd quarter.

Cedar Ridge is outclassing Stony Point 31-7 in the 4th quarter.

New Tech Blanking Achieve

Manor New Tech is shutting out Austin Achieve 28-0 midway through the second quarter.

Georgetown are on the way to 60 for the second consecutive week as the Eagles are flying past Leander 56-9 at the end of the 3rd as they are deep in Lion territory.

In other 5A-District 11-D1 action, Glen leads East View 31-21 in the 4th quarter.

In a final, Vandegrift bests McNeil 57-0, while Vista Ridge takes a 20-16 lead over Westwood at the end of the 3rd quarter but Westwood is driving.

Cedar Ridge Extends its Lead

From Hill County News' Zach Smith, Cedar Ridge has extended its lead to 21-7 over Stony Point as Karlos Jackson scores his second TD of the night.

Marion is dominating Blanco 42-6 with 11:50 in the 3rd quarter.

Hutto leads Harker Heights 17-14 at halftime in district play, while Dripping Springs is up on Akins 47-0 in the second quarter.

Greathouse Scores Again as Chaps Lead 35-17 at Half

Westlake's Jaden Greathouse's 2nd TD reception has given the Chaps a 35-17 lead in the opening half.

For the Trojans, Ed Small has 3 catches for over 150 yards including a 83-yard TD reception from Fred Dale.

QB Bo Edmundson, a Michigan State commit, sees his first action of the season as Lake Travis is up on Del Valle 35-0 at Cavalier Stadium.

In other District 26-6A action, Dripping Springs is shutting out Akins 44-0 in the second quarter.

Hutto is up on Harker Heights 17-7 at Hippo Stadium while Bastrop is up on Cedar Creek 23-14 in the second quarter.

Hays Tied at Half

NB Canyon has scored and the Cougars are tied with Hays at 27 at half.

Round Rock leads Manor 14-7 at the half as the Dragons look to stay unbeaten and maintain at least a share of the lead in district 25-6A.

A&M Consolidated leads Hendrickson 24-0 at intermission, while Veterans Memorial leads Liberty Hill 42-35 at half.

Smithson Valley leads Lehman 27-0 a the half, while Geronimo Navarro leads Lago Vista 22-7 in the second stanza.

Hawks Running Over Canyon

As reported by the Statesman's Thomas Jones, a track meet has broken out at Bob Shelton Stadium as Kyree Payton's 43-yard TD jaunt up the middle as Hays now leads NB Canyon 27-20 with 4:20 left in the opening half.

At the start of the second quarter, Westlake leads Anderson 28-7 and Vandegrift is blowing out McNeil 41-0.

Lake Travis leads Del Valle 21-0 early in the second quarter.

Liberty Hill now trails Veterans Memorial 35-28 in the second quarter.

La Grange's Arceneaux puts Panthers up on Smithville

Phillip Areceaux's 29-yard field goal has given La Grange a 3-0 lead over Smithville with 1:43 remaining in the first quarter.

Lake Travis has scored a pair of TDs in the opening quarter as the Cavaliers lead Del Valle 14-0 late in the first quarter.

Cedar Ridge leads Stony Point 1407 in the second while East View has rallied to tie Glenn 14-14 at Bible Stadium in the second quarter.

Notre Dame commit Jaden Greathouse has caught, Paxton Land's second TD pass, a 29 yarder to extend Westlake's lead to 21-7 in the first quarter. This is the 48th TD reception of Greathouse's Westlake career.

Bastrop Seeking 2nd in a Row

Bastrop has taken a 14-7 lead over Cedar Creek as the Bears are searching for its second win a row after last week's win over Kerrville Tivy.

In another 5A division 2 game, Veterans Memoria has doubled up on Liberty Hill 28-14 in the opening quarter. Elgin leads Killeen Chaparral 14-0 in the second.

Obara Scores Again

Hays' Zach Obara scores again, this time on a 66-yard run to give the Hawks a 14-7 lead over NB Canyon with 10:39 left in the half.

Jack Kayser's burst up the middle has given Westlake the lead 14-7 over Anderson in the first quarter.

Land Back in Action; Hits Kubecka for 6

For the first time since the opener, Westlake's Paxton Land is seeing action and it is already paying dividends as he hits Keaton Kubeca on a perfect pass to give the Chaps a 7-0 lead over Anderson in the first, covering 53 yards in just 4 plays.

Anderson's Ed Small goes high on a pass from Fred Dale and does the rest as the Trojans have evened the score at 7.

Glenn leads East View 14-8 in the first, while Georgetown leads Leander 21-3 early in second quarter play.

At the end of the first, Round Rock leads Manor 7-0. Also in 25-6A, Vandegrift is shutting out McNeil 21-0 in the first.

Elgin is up 7-0 on Killeen Chaparral.

Cougars Respond to Hays Score

New Braunfels Canyon's Jacob Alcorta has evened the score with Hays at 7 as he scored 31-yard run. Alcorta accounted for 58 yards on 3 carries on the drive.

In 25-6A play, Zach Harri' 37-yard FG has given Westwood a 3-0 lead over Vista Ridge with 4:32 left in the opening quarter.

Rodriguez Puts Leander on the Board

After seeing its opening drive stall at the Georgetown 10, Leon Rodriguez's 28-yard field goal has narrowed the Eagle lead to 7-3.

Vandegrift's Alex Witt has scored to give the Vipers a 14-0 lead over McNeil.

Blanco trails Marion 7-0 with 4:09 remaining in the opening quarter.

Also in the first quarter, Hays has taken a 7-0 lead over NB Canyon as Zach Obara scoots in from 3 yards out.

Vandegrift Leads Early

A 34-yard touchdown pass from Baylor baseball commit Brayden Buchanon to Miles Coleman has given the Vipers a 7-0 lead over McNeil in the opening stanza.

Smithson Valley has opened a 13-0 lead over Lehman in the first, while Liberty Hill and SA Veterans Memorial are knotted at 7 in the first.

Georgetown Strikes First

After taking over on their own 45, Georgetown marched 55 yards on its opening possession as Andrew Petter found paydirt from 22 yards out.

After the extra point, the Eagles lead 7-0 with 10:13 in the opening quarter.

Texans Seeking 6th Win

The area’s lone 4A unbeaten team, Wimberley, 5-0, open district 13-4A D2 play hosting 2-3 Jarrell.

The Texans last saw action two weeks ago, downing Lampasas 38-28.

State quarterfinalist 4-1 Lago Vista Vikings host Geronimo Navarro. The Vikings have reeled off 4 wins after dropping their opener 40-35 to Cameron Yoe.

LBJ Looks to Stay Unbeaten in District Play

The Jaguars trounced McCallum 68-14 last Friday to move its District 12-5A DII mark to 2-0, LBJ traveling across town to face LASA.

LASA is 1-4, 1-1 in district action after being shut out by Crockett 63-0 last Thursday.

McCallum is looking to get back in the win column hosting Northeast. Northeast shocked Travis 34-6 last Friday night.

Crockett moved its district record to 2-1 with a 49-13 win over Navarro last night.

In other district play, Travis dumped Eastside 47-6 last night.

Hays: Area’s Lone Unblemished 5A Squad

Hays (5-0, 2-0) looks to stay perfect as the Rebels host New Braunfels Canyon (4-1, 1-1) at Bob Shelton Stadium.

The Hawks face a stern test after escaping Boerne Champion 34-29 last Thursday evening.

Lehman is still looking for its first district triumph after falling to 0-2 district play, getting shut out by SA Wagner 42-0 on September 22.

Glenn Seeking to Stay Unbeaten in 11-5A D1 Standings

Fresh off a 27-14 win over crosstown rival Leander, Glenn (4-1, 2-0) is looking to keep pace with College Station and A&M Consolidated on the top of District 11-5A D1 charts as the Grizzlies host 0-5 East View. Glenn’s slot-T hit on all cylinders last week as they pounded out 430 yards on the ground. The Grizzlies are averaging over 333 yards on the ground.

In a critical tilt, Georgetown looks to move to 2-1 in district competition as the 3-2 Eagles look to stay within a game of the district leaders as they host 3-2, 0-2 Leander. Georgetown is coming off a season-high 70 points in the Eagles’ 70-28 win over Hendrickson eight nights ago.

Cedar Park (1-4, 1-1) faces a daunting task as the Timberwolves travel to College Station to face the 4-1, 2-0 Cougars. Cedar Park dropped a nail-biter 13-10 to A&M Consolidated last Friday.

Hendrickson (1-4, 0-2) is travelling to the Brazos Valley as the Hawks take on 5-1, 2-0 A&M Consolidated.

San Marcos Opens District Slate

San Marcos (2-3), fresh off the UIL decision allowing the Rattlers to participate in the playoffs, commences District 27-6A play hosting 3-2 Schertz Clemens.

In 12-6A play, both Weiss and Hutto are seeking their first district wins.

Weiss (2-4, 0-2) hosts Copperas Cove after dropping a 32-19 decision to Temple.

The Hippos (3-2, 0-1) are back in action hosting 5-1 Harker Heights two weeks after dropping a 48-37 contest at Waco Midway.

District 26-6A Sports a Pair of Unbeatens

Two of the area’s unbeaten teams are looking to stay unbeaten in District 26-6A action.

Westlake (5-0, 3-0), seeking its fourth consecutive state championship, looks to win its 46th in a row as they host 3-2, 1-2 Anderson. The Chaps steamrolled Del Valle 73-7, outscoring the Cardinals 63-0 after Del Valle cut the lead to 10-7 in the opening quarter.

Class 6-A new-comer, Dripping Springs whitewashed Johnson 35-0 last week to run its record to 5-0, 3-0. The Tigers are facing winless Akins before next week’s clash against visiting Westlake.

After dropping its first district game 35-20 to Westlake two weeks ago, Lake Travis (2-3, 2-1) looks to bounce back as the Cavaliers host Del Valle (1-5, 1-2).

In Thursday night action, Johnson scored in the last minute as the Jaguars (3-4) moved to 3-2 in league play rallying past Austin High 20-13 in Buda. Bryan Forsberg scored on a 5-yard QB keeper as Johnson scored the last 13 points.

Bowie (5-1, 2-1) is idle this week and will host Johnson to stay in the upper half of the district standings.

Trio Looks to Stay Unbeaten in 25-6A Action

Three teams, Round Rock, Vandegrift and Vista Ridge, are looking for their third district wins tonight to stay atop the 25-6A standings.

Quarterback Mason Cochran scored 5 touchdowns, all on the ground as Round Rock (5-0, 2-0) as Round Rock doubled up Stony Point (3-2, 0-2) last Friday. The Dragons travel to Manor to take on the Mustangs. Manor (4-1, 1-1) was knocked from the ranks of the unbeatens last Friday, falling to Vandegrift 34-6.

Vandegrift, winners of 5 in a row after a 23-20 opening-night loss to Dripping Springs, looks to go 3-0 district play as they face 2-3, 0-2 McNeil.

Vista Ridge is sporting a 3-game win streak after a 15-11 win over McNeil. The Rangers (3-2, 2-0) rallied from an 11-8 deficit in the 4th quarter as Isaac Garcia scored on an 8-yard run to put Vista Ridge in front to stay. The Rangers will take on 3-2, 0-2 Westwood to stay perched upon the top of district standings.

Rounding out district play , Stony Point (3-2, 0-2) is seeking its first district win as the match up against 2-3, 1-1 Cedar Ridge.
