Replay: Austin-area high school football kicks off Week 10 games Friday

Games kicked off this week on Thursday as Westlake played Bowie in a key District 26-6A game and Georgetown and Glenn battled until the end for playoff jockeying.

Giddings Gets Win

In a District 12 4A Division II tilt, Giddings edged Caldwell 17-7.

SA Davenport upended Burnet 42-28, while Cuero rolls past Smithville 61-16.

Hutto is on the short end of a 53-34 score losing to Bryan in the Brazos Valley.

Rouse Coasts to Easy Win

The Raiders sailed to a 45-7 win over Pflugerville at Bible Stadium.

In other 5A Division II play, Navarro has taken a 14-13 lead over LASA, while Crocket is up on Northeast 35-14 at the start of the 3rd.

Smithson Valley is dominating Hays 42-14 late in the fourth quarter.

In a game where the Liberty Hill school district named the field at Panther Stadium after former coach Jerry Vance, the Panthers have scored 61 consecutive after falling behind Bastrop 7-0 on the Bears' opening possession.

College Station Roars Back to Take the Lead

In a huge game in 11-5A DI, College Station has rallied to take a 24-21 lead over A&M Consolidated.

Also in the fourth quarter, Cedar Park is blanking Leander 35-0. Cedar Park will clinch a playoff berth with a win over the Lions.

Hendrickson looks like they will be picking up a second district win as the Hawks are cruising over East View 30-8 in the third.

In other 5A action, Boerne Champion is looking to get its first district win as Champion leads Lehman 30-0 late in the 3rd quarter.

Hippos See Playoff Chances Slipping

After jumping out to an early 14-0 lead, Hutto has surrendered 4 Bryan TDs as the Vikings lead the Hippos 28-14 at the half.

In other 6A-District 12 action, Weiss is up on Waco Midway 35-7 in the second quarter as the Wolves are looking to secure its first 6A playoff ticket.

In other 6A action, Stony point is doubling up McNeil 28-14 in the 4th. Manor has scored 29 second half points as the Mustangs lead Westwood 29-9.

Vandegrift is rolling as Brayden Buchanan hit RayJean Middleton with a 21-yard scoring pass as the Vipers now lead Vista Ridge 28-0 with 4:30 left in the third stanza.

In the first finalsof the night, Regents has dumped EMI Episcopal 45-7, while Geronimo Navarro shut out Austin Achieve 74-0.

Hendrickson is up on East View 31-8 in the fourth quarter while Rouse is up on Pflugerville 42-7 in the final quarter.

Lago Vista Hanging with Wimberley

Unbeaten Wimberley is up on Lago Vista 17-14 in a District 13-4A DII matchup.

Also at half, Crockett is up on Northeast 35-14 at half on a District 12-5A DII tussle.

From Thomas Jones, Rouse is shutting out Pflugerville 35-0 as Mason Shorb has thrown 4 TD passes in less than 3 quarters of action.

Manor has extended its lead to 14-6 over Westwood, while Round Rock is pounding Cedar Ridge 38-14 the third quarter. .

Lake Travis leads Austin High 35-0 at half.

In the second quarter, La Grange is up on Gonzales by 3 scores 23-6.

Manor Takes the Lead

After being held scoreless in the first half,, Manor has opened the second half by taking a 7-3 lead over Westwood in a key 25-6A tilt.

Also in 25-6A Vandegrift is looking to claim a share of the district championship and is up on Vista Ridge 21.-0 at half.

Jarrell has expanded its lead to 32-0 on Manor New Tech.

Liberty Hill is running past Bastrop 47-7 at the half.

In District 12-5A DII action, Crockett is up on Northeast 28-7, while LASA is up on Navarro 13-0midway through the second quarter.

Hutto is looking to stay alive for postseason action and the Hippos lead Bryan 14-13 at Merrill Green Stadium in Bryan.

Lampasas Up by 8

In District 12-4A Division I action, Lampasas holds a 14-6 lead over Marble Falls early in the second quarter. The Badgers are currently tied for second in the district with a 2-1 ledger while the Mustangs are looking for their first district win in 4 tries.

Giddings is up on Caldwell 7-0 in the first quarter, while Cuero is dominating Smithville 20-1 in the opening quarter. Geronimo Navarro is shutting out Achieve 34-0 in the second.

At half, Rouse is up on Pflugerville 21-0 as the Raiders have piled up 278 yards of offense.

After a scoreless opening quarter, Vandegrift has scored twice and leads Vista Ridge 14-0 with 2:11 remaining in the first half.

Lake Travis Running Away Early

Showing no ill effects from last week's shocking 38-31 loss to Dripping Springs, Lake Travis is comfortably ahead of Austin High 28-0 in the first quarter as Nico Hamilton scores from 33-yards out.

Dripping Springs has scored 21 in the first quarter as the Tigers are mauling Del Valle 2-0 with 37 seconds left in the opening stanza.

Hendrickson leads East View 21-8 at half, while Stony Point is up on McNeil 20-7 at the half.

Burnet is deadlocked with SA Davenport early in the second, 14-14.

Liberty Hill Scores 34 Unanswered

After surrendering 7 on Bastrop's opening drive, Liberty Hill has reeled off 34 unanswered points as the Panthers lead the Bears 34-7 with 7:08 remaining in the first half.

Hyde Park is even with SA Christian 7-0 in the second quarter, while Bryan has cut into Hutto's lead and the Hippos lead 14-7 in the opening quarter.

Weiss leads Waco Midway 14-0 in the first quarter.

Smithson Valley is all over Hays 28-7 with 4:22 remaining before intermission.

Sterling's Hat Trick Gives Dragons 21-7 Lead

Aiden Sterling's 3rd TD grab of the opening half has given Round Rock a 21-7 lead over Cedar Ridge midway through the second quarter.

In 6A-District 12 action, Hutto has opened up a 14-0 lead on Bryan in a game that the Hippos need to stay alive in playoff consideration.

Jarrell leads Manor New Tech 20-0 with 5:25 left in the first.

Regents lead TMI Episcopal 28-0 in the second quarter.

Wimberley Looks to Stay Undefeated

Sporting a perfect 8-0 record, Wimberley leads Lago Vista 3-0 in 13-4A DII action.

Westwood has taken a 3-0 lead with 2:12 remaining in the opening half.

Mason Cochran hit Aiden Sterling with a 78-yard TD pass to give Round Rock a 14-7 lead over Cedar Ridge with 9:53 in the first half.

Lake Travis leads Austin High 7-0 with 8:31 left in the first.

In 6A District 12 play, Weiss leads Waco Midway 7-0 in the opening quarter.

Cedar Park Up 21-0 in 2nd Stanza

Three possessions have resulted in 3 TDs as Cedar Park has opened a 21-0 lead with 9:03 remaining in the opening half.

In a critical 25-6A game, Vista Ridge and Vandegrift are scoreless at the end of the opening quarter. Vista Ridge has only managed 47 total yards while the Vipers were held to a meager 29 yards.

Rouse has scored again and the Raiders now lead Pflugerville 15-0 in the second quarter.

Following a 70 point explosion last week, Jarrell has scored first and leads Manor New Tech 7-0 in District 13-4A DII play.

With less than 6 minutes remaining in the first half, it is scoreless between Manor and Westwood. Manor needs a win to stay in playoff contention.

Regents, St. Michaels's Lead by Two Scores

In private school action, Regents and St. Michael's have opened up 2-score leads.

Regents leads TMI Episcopal 14-0, while the Crusaders are shutting out Victoria St. Joseph 10-0.

In 11-5A DI, A&M Consolidated has doubled its lead on College Station and now leads 14-0.

In 25-6A, Cedar Ridge has responded to Round Rock's opening TD with a score of its own. The game is even at 7 with 2:21 left in the opening quarter.

Lockhart and Comal Pieper have put up 2 TDs apiece in the game's first 9 minutes in a 14-14 tilt.

Elford's Interception Thwarts Leander Drive

Cedar Park's Brady Elford interception has stymied Leander's opening drive, deep in Cedar Park territory. The Timberwolves still leads 7-0 in the first quarter.

In 27-5A Division 1 action, Smithson Valley has scored first and leads Hays 7-0 with 5:58 remaining in the first stanza.

Round Rock's Mason Cochran's 5-yard scoring pass given the Dragons a 7-0 lead over Cedar Ridge in the first.

Liberty Hill and Bastrop are knotted at 7 midway through the opening quarter.

Shorb Hits Johnson for TD, Rouse Up Early

The Raiders' Mason Shorb hits Trent Johnson for a 25-yard TD pass on a 4th-and-20 to put Rouse out front 6-0 against Pflugerville with 8:45 left in the opening quarter.

In other action, Regents leads TMI Episcopal 7-0, while Comal Pieper is up on Lockhart 7-0 early in the opening quarter.

Nicholson Puts T-Wolves in Front

Tyler Nicholson's four-yard plunge up the middle has given Cedar Park an early 7-0 lead over Leander in 11-5A D I action.

In other 11-5A DI action, A&M Consolidated has taken a 7-0 lead over College Station. If A&M Consolidated wins, they will earn the top seed in the district playoff race.

Elgin Completes Turnaround Earning Playoff Ticket

After going 0-10 last season, Elgin has qualified for the 5A Division II playoffs as the Wildcats are 7-2 overall and 4-1 in District 11-5A Division II.

Elgin has the week off prior to next week’s season finale against Rouse. Rouse currently sits 3-5 overall, 2-2 in district action.

Rouse is looking to hang on to a playoff spot as the Raiders host Pflugerville tonight. The Statesman’s Thomas Jones is there and we’ll keep you updated.

Hays Looking to Break Losing Streak

After starting the season 5-0, Hays will be looking to snap its 3-game losing streak as the Hawks face District 12-5A Division I leader Smithson Valley at Bob Shelton Stadium.

The Lehman at Boerne Champion tussle will see a squad pick up its first district win as both teams sport identical 2-6, 0-5 marks.

Georgetown Squeaks Past Glenn in 11-5A DI Action

Despite trailing Glenn 17-14 at the half, Georgetown scored 14 third quarter points and held on to dump the Grizzlies 28-22 at Bible Stadium on Thursday night in a game that saw the Eagles punch their ticket to the 5A Division I playoff bracket.

Junior quarterback Noah Booras tossed 4 TD passes, 3 to Marquis Dominguez, to engineer the comeback.

After a 46-yard Armando Don Juan field goal to pull the Grizzlies to within 28-20, the Eagles defense bowed its neck with a goal-line stand in the last 20 seconds.

Looking to stay in playoff contention, Cedar Park (4-4, 4-2) is looking to push its record above .500 for the first time this season as the Timberwolves face Leander (3-5, 0-5).

Hendrickson (2-6, 1-4) takes on East View (0-8, 0-5) at Birkelbach Field.

Rattlers Needs One Win to Qualify for Post Season

Needing one win its final two games to earn a District 27 6A playoff spot, 3-5, 1-2, San Marcos will travel down I-35 to square off with New Braunfels (5-3, 2-1) tonight.

If San Marcos loses, the Rattlers will need a win in next week’s finale at San Antonio East Central to earn a bi-district playoff game.

Weiss Seeking First 6A Playoff Berth

In its first season in 6A, Weiss will clinch a spot in the 6A Division II playoffs with a win over Waco Midway in District 12 play.

Weiss enters tonight’s contest with a 4-4, 2-2 record while Midway is 2-7, 2-3.

Hutto is looking to stay in contention as the 4-4, 1-3 Hippos travel to Bryan High to tackle the 5-3, 2-2 Vikings.

Westlake Rolls Past Bowie; Johnson Blows Past Akins

In Thursday 26-A action, Westlake posted a 45-0 shutout of Bowie, while Buda Johnson stayed alive in playoff contention as the Jaguars dominated Akins 61-7.

Westlake, who sits atop the district standings at 7-0 faces Johnson (4-3 district ledger) next Friday to close out regular season play.

Fresh off a thrilling 38-31 come-from-behind win at Lake Travis, Dripping Springs (7-1, 5-1) takes its high-scoring offense into battle hosting Del Valle (1-7, 1-5).

Looking to stay in contention for a playoff slot, Lake Travis (4-4, 4-2) will travel to House Park as the Cavaliers will tangle with 2-6, 2-4 Austin High.

Bowie (7-2, 5-2) travels to Cavalier Stadium to take on Lake Travis next week, while Anderson will end its season next week hosting Dripping Springs.

25-6A Games With Playoff Implications

Three of the four 25-6A contests tonight will feature squads that are vying for the four spots in the 6A UIL playoffs.

District leader Vandegrift (7-1, 5-0) hosts Vista Ridge (5-3, 4-1). The Vipers have strung together seven consecutive wins after falling to once-beaten Dripping Springs 23-20 on a last second field goal. The Rangers 5-game winning streak was snapped last week as they suffered their first district loss 21-7 to Manor.

Round Rock and Cedar Ridge, who are in contention for Division I post-season play, face off at Dragon Stadium.

Round Rock (7-1, 4-1) dropped from the ranks of the unbeatens two weeks ago falling to Vandegrift 30-22, while the Raiders (4-4, 3-2) are looking to stay alive in the playoff race after falling to Vandegrift last week 29-7.

Manor, (5-3, 2-3) is looking to stay alive in the playoff picture as the Mustangs host Westwood (4-4, 1-4).

In the remaining contest, Stony Point (4-4, 1-4) is looking to keep McNeil (2-6, 0-5) winless in district action.
