Westlake ran its winning streak to 42 as the Chaps rolled past Converse Judson 47-14. Despite trailing 7-0 in the first stanza, the Chaps earned its 500th win in school history by outscoring the Rockets 47-7 the rest of the way.

Meanwhile, Manor ran its record to 2-0 on the season as they Mustangs rolled past Cornerstone Christian 34-13 while earning the school's 400th victory.

Manor Up 21 in the 4th Quarter

Manor looks like a second win will be coming as the Mustangs lead Cornerstone Christian 34-13 with 6:40 in the fourth quarter.

Eagles Fly High

Outscoring Vista Ridge 21-6 in the second half, Georgetown came from behind to beat the Rangers 41-27 at Birkelbach Field.

Georgetown's Andrew Petter accounted for 4 TDs and over 240 total yards.

The Eagles advance to 2-0 for the young season and they will travel across Highway 29 next week taking on Liberty Hill.

The Panthers edged the Eagles last season 17-13 in the third week.

Hammond Leads Hippo Offense

Hutto's Will Hammond has accounted for 309 yards and 5 touchdowns as the Hippos lead Liberty Hill 35-21 with :57 remaining in the third quarter.

Hammond has 200 yards passing with 4 TD passes and rushed for 109 yards while chipping in a rush TD.

Bastrop Cuts Leander Lead

Bastrop has scored in the 3rd quarter as the Bears have sliced the Leander lead to 21-10.

Leander is looking for its second win on the season while the Bears are looking for their initial victory.

Lake Travis Still Trailing

Despite trailing Cibolo Steele 35-14, Lake Travis responds with a 98-yard drive culminated by Aidan Albright's 15-yard run as the Cavaliers pull within 14, 35-21 with 1:58 left in the 3rd quarter.

Vipers Bounce Back

One week after losing to Dripping Springs on a last-second field goal, Vandegrift pummeled Cedar Park 45-0 at Gupton Stadium.

Meanwhile, district rival McNeil, looking to stay unbeaten on the season, is up 41-7 over Pflugerville in the 4th quarter.

Eagles Retake Lead

After trailing 21-20 at half, Georgetown has used a goal-line stand and a long TD drive to take a 27-24 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter over Vista Ridge at Birkelbach Field.

The Eagles are looking to move to 2-0 on the season after their 28-14 win over Copperas Cove, while the Rangers are seeking their initial win after falling 27-7 to Bowie last Friday.

Notre Dame Commit Has Big First Half

Notre Dame wide receiver commit has had a huge first half as he has 3 catches for 116 yards and 2 TDs plus a punt return TD as Westlake has scored 37 straight points as the Chaps lead 37-7 at the half for the Chaps.

It looks like Westlake will win its 42nd in a row as well as the program's 500th win.

Vista Ridge Opens Up Second Half with Long Scoring Drive

Vista Ridge marched 73 yards in 14 plays before stalling but they expanded on its lead as a 20-yard field goal makes the score 24-20 with 6:30 left in the 3rd quarter.

After struggling last fall, Hyde Park and Elgin are looking to start the season 2-0 and it looks like they are well on their way.

Hyde Park is blanking Navarro 27-0 in the second quarter, while the Wildcats, winless a year ago, are blanking Akins 28-0 in the opening half.

Round Rock, Chaps Rebound From Early Deficits

Round Rock and Westlake have bounced back from early deficits to take the lead in their games.

Round Rock, who trailed SA Reagan 14-7, have responded to take a 31-17 halftime lead, while the Chaps have erased an early 7-0 hole by scoring the next 14 to take a 14-7 lead after Jack Kayser followed up a blocked punt with a 9-yard scoring run.

Coleman's Having Big First Half

Vandegrift wide receiver Miles Coleman's second TD of the first half has put the Vipers up 24-0 on Cedar Park with 9:39 left in the second quarter.

Coleman already has six catches for 160 yards.

Weather Delay in Bastrop; Westlake Trails Early

After breaking an 8 game winless streak last week, Leander will have to wait to attempt to go for two in a row as weather has delayed the opening of the game against host Bastrop.

In other news, for the second week in a row, Westlake falls behind as Converse Judson's Anthony Evans hits the Chaps for a 77-yard scoring run in the opening quarter at Lehnhoff Stadium.

Vandegrift Strikes First

Per Zach Smith of the Hill Country News, in a battle of Leander ISD schools at Gupton Stadium, Vandegrift has struck first as the Vipers strike early with a 64-yard bomb from Baylor baseball commit Brayden Buchanan to Miles Coleman.

Vandegfift leads Cedar Park 7-0 with 10:29 left in the opening stanza.

Streaks and Milestone Watch

Per Mike Barnes, defending 6A DII champion Westlake is looking to notch its 42nd consecutive win as the Chaps will venture to D.W. Rutledge Stadium to face perennial power Converse Judson. If the Chaps are victorious, the triumph will be the schools’ 500th.

Looking for its 400th win, Manor looks to open its season 2-0 as they will take on SA Cornerstone Christian.

In only its second 6A contest Dripping Springs looks to extend its 11-game regular season win streak to an even dozen, as the Tigers will host SA Wagner in its home opener.

Liberty Hill is looking to extend its 8--game regular season winning streak as the 5A Division II rundner up Panthers will face 6A Hutto at Hippo Stadium. The Panthers downed SA Wagner 35-21, while the Hippos raced past San Marcos 46-21.

With some upsets and blowouts in the opening week of 2022, schools continue their pre-district games this weekend. Elgin will look to start a win streak, after a winless season in 2021. Westlake potentially breaks in a new starting quarterback as 55 Austin-area teams are in action Friday. District 25 6A Puts Up Impressive First Week

While Manor dominated 2022 Class 4A Division I runner up LBJ 33-20 last week, the remaining teams of District 25 6A tallied five wins in seven games to finish 6-2 in week 1.

Stony Point whitewashed Austin High 53-0, while Cedar Ridged dumped Cedar Park 35-14. Also scoring victories were McNeil 49-13 over Del Valle, Round Rock 31-14 over Weiss and Westwood raced out to a big lead before downing East View 42-17.

Both Vandegrift and Vista Ridge fell to District 26 6A foes. Dripping Springs edged Vandegrift 23-20 an a Wesley Walker 42-yard field goal as time ran out, while Bowie ran past the Rangers 27-7

Joyner Brothers Lead Manor to Opening Week Win

For some fans, not since quarterback Marcus Griffin and running back Michael Griffin starred for Bowie’s 2002 playoff qualifying squad, has a pair of brothers shined brighter at while sharing the backfield roles, than the Joyner brothers at Manor last Friday.

In the Mustangs’ 33-20 win over LBJ, sophomore QB Quintaelyn finished 9-14 passing for 169 yards and 3 TD passes, while older brother Quinten scored 3 times on the ground.

The Mustangs will look to push its record to 2-0 while visiting San Antonio Cornerstone Christian.
