McNeil and Georgetown Knocked From Unbeaten Ranks

Hendrickson handed McNeil its initial loss as the Hawks prevailed 28-27 at The Pfield, while Statesman #3 5A Liberty Hill took a large lead into halftime as the Panthers coasted to a 49-35 win over #1 Georgetown.

Leander has evened its game at 29 with a 43-yard field goal by Rodriguez with a dozen seconds left.

Ramirez Boots Rouse to a Victory

After Jace Mann recovered a Glenn fumble deep in Grizzly territory, Zach Ramirez calmly botted the game-winning field goal that split the uprights as time expired to give Rouse a hard-earned 10-7 victory over the Grizzlies.

Leander has rallied to take a 26-21 lead over Del Rio with less than 4:30 remaining in the final stanza.

Del Rio Takes the Lead

Del Rio has rallied from 13 down by scoring 2 unanswered touchdowns as the Rams now lead Leander 21-20 with 6:32 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Leander is looking for its third consecutive win to open the season.

Vipers Win Second in a Row

After losing in week 1, Vandegrift rolled to its second win in a row as the Vipers shutout Midway 45-0 at Crusader Stadium in Belton.

Vista Ridge has taken a 14-13 lead over Schertz Clemons in the second quarter in a contest delayed in the opening quarter.

Cibolo Steele is up by 26, 35-9 over Hutto in the 3rd quarter.

Rouse Knocks off Previously Unbeaten Glenn

Rouse earned its first win of the season as the Raiders knocked off Glenn 10-7 at Bible Stadium.

In other 5A action, Georgetown has cut the Liberty Hill lead to 42-27 with 11:27 remaining in the game. Andrew Petter has amassed over 170 yards rushing for the third game in the row for the Eagles.

Lampasas continues to lead East View 27-23 late in the third, while Lockhart is coasting against Lehman 49-7 in the third stanza.

6A Squads Looking to Stay Unbeaten

Hays and Round Rock are leading their games in heir quest to stay unbeaten on the young season.

The Dragons have opened a 24-7 lead over Cedar Park as qb Mason Cochran uses his feet with 2:41 left in the fourth.

Hays is all over Cedar Creek 48-13 late in the third stanza.

Mauer Caps Long Drive with Short TD

Leander's Seth Mauer 1-yard sneak capped a 95-yard scoring drive as the Lions expanded its lead to 20-7 over Del Rio in the 3rd quarter.

At Bible Stadium, Glenn's Devin Endel has picked off Rouse's Shorb deep in Grizzly territory with 7:38 remaining in the game. Score is still tied at 7,

Per Thomas Jones, Glenn has responded to the Rouse score as DJ Dugar scores from a yard out to even the score with 11:55 left in the final quarter.

LLano leads Crocket 44-7 at half while Wimberley has extended its lead to 23-7 over Brock in the second.

Rouse Strikes in the Third

Rouse has broke through as Justin Cannon runs 13 yards for a score as the Raiders have taken a 7-0 lead over Glenn with 3:08 left in the third stanza.

The key play in the drive was a 53-yard hook-up from Mason Shorb to sophomore Noah Fabila.

Jarrell has expanded its lead to 41-6 over Caldwell in the second quarter.

Badgers on top of Patriots

At the end of the first half, Lampasas is holding a 21-13 lead over East View, while Elgin and Rudder are still deadlocked at 7 at the halftime break.

It looks like Lake Travis will earn its first win of the season as the Cavs lead Johnson 28-10 at half, while Manor is cruising toward its 3rd win as the Mustangs have exploded after a sluggish start and now lead Copperas Cove 35-0 lead late in the first half.

Texans Lead Brock; Lago Vista up by 18

Wimberley has opened up a 16-7 lead on Brock in the second quarter and Lago Vista has scored 21 unanswered as the Vikings now lead Giddings 21-3 in the second quarter.

Llano is up on 1-1 Crockett 35-7 in the second and Jarrell is leading Caldwell 20-6 in the second quarter.

Per FLX ATX, Schertz Clemens leads Vista Ridge 10-0 in the first quarter, which is in a weather delay.

Long's 5th TD puts Panthers up 42-14 at Half

Per SHN Sports, Liberty Hill's Noah Long as rushed for 5 TDs as the Panthers are routing Georgetown 42-14 at the half.

At the half, Vandegrift is up 31-0 over Midway at Crusader Stadium in Belton while Navarro is up on unbeaten Manor New Tech 7-6 at the end of the first stanza. In another 6A game, Manor is up on Copperas Cove 21-0 midway through the second quearter.

Looks like Lockhart will stay unbeaten as the Lions have opened a 28-7 lead over Lehman at half. Parish Episcopal is whitewashing LBJ 27-0 with 1:44 left in the first half. Leander leads Del Rio 13-7 at intermission.

Hyde Park Seeks 3-0 Start

After going winless in 2021, Hyde Park is looking to start its campaign 3-0, and the Panthers are leading LASA 29-7 midway through the second quarter.

Elgin, also winless in 2021, is looking for win #3, and the Wildcats are even with Bryan Rudder 7-7 in the second quareter.

At the end of the first, Manor is up on Copperas Cove 7-0, while Bowie is blanking Del Valle 20-0 early in the second.

Round Rock Schools Lead at Half

25-6A squads Round Rock and McNeil have taken leads into intermission.

McNeil leads Hendrickson 14-7, while the Dragons still hold a 10-7 advantage over Cedar Park.

Leander Rallies to Take Lead

After falling behind Del Rio 7-0, Leander has responded with 13 unanswered to take a 13-7 lead over the Rams in the second quarter.

In other action, Smithville is tied with Geronimo Navarro at 7 in the first. Cedar Park has cut the Round Rock lead to 107 in the second. Liberty Hill has scored on all four possessions to open a 28-7 lead over Georgetown.

Giddings is up 3-0 on Lago Vista in the first, while Lake Travis leads Buda Johnson 14-0 late in the first.

Georgetown Marquis Dominguez' 4th down catch on a scramble from Tucker Griffin, the Eagles have pulled within Liberty Hill 21-7 in the second quarter.

With 46 seconds remaining in the first, Blanco's Kaydent Pettit hits paydirt from a yard out as the Panthers have bolted to a 27-0 lead.

Round Rock has added a touchdown as the Dragons now lead Cedar Park 10-0 early in the second.

After one quarter in Leander, it is still scoreless between Rouse and Glenn.

In a battle of unbeatens, Lockhart has opened up a 14-7 lead over Lehman at Lockhart.

Blanco's Adrian Carrillo has returned a fumble for a touchdown as Blanco has jumped out to a 13-0 lead over Comfort with 10:12 left in the opening stanza.

Meanwhile, the Hays Hawks are on the board in the first as they hold a 7-0 lead in Bastrop over Cedar Creek.

Cavaliers, Jaguars Searching for First Victory

For the first time since the Jeff Dicus coached team of 2003, has Lake Travis started 0-2, and the Cavaliers are looking for their first win of the season as they set to take on 6A newcomer Buda Johnson (0-2) at Shelton Stadium.

For the 3rd weekl in a row, the Cavs will be without Michigan State commitQB Bo Edmundson as he is still sidelined. Look for Nico Hamilton to continue to pick up the slack offensively, as he has gained 279 yards in the two tilts.

Former District Foes Face-off in Leander

Bible Stadium will be the backdrop to the Statesman’s game of the week as the area’s number 5 5-A eleven Glenn looks to earn is first win over Rouse in varsity competition.

Rouse edged Glenn 28-27 in 2021 enroute to the District 13-5A DII crown, while the Raiders repeated as District champs after nipping the Grizzlies 24-21 as Mason Johnson kicked a 25-yard field goal for the game-winner.

Glenn has cruised to wins over Piper 34-10 in the season opener as well as a decisive 35-3 pasting of Victoria West. Rouse is still searching for its first win in 2022 after losing to Lake Belton 47-21 and Anderson 35-13.

Hays, Lehman off to 2-0 starts

Both Hays and Lehman have opened their seasons with a pair of wins each and the Hawks and the Lobos will be searching for win #3 tonight.

Hays will travel to Bastrop to take on 0-2 Cedar Creek, while Lehman will take to the road to challenge 2-0 Lockhart.

Georgetown at Liberty Hill showcases 5A Slate

Tonight’s 5A battle, Georgetown at Liberty Hill, will spotlight two of the Statesman’s area’s 5A top-ranked squads.

The #1 Eagles have romped to wins over 6A foes Copperas Cove and Vista Ridge, while the 1-1 Panthers are looking to bounce back from last week’s 56-49 loss to 6A Hutto.

Both squads feature potent rushing attacks as junior Andrew Petter has racked up 391 yards on the ground with 6 TDs, while the Panthers counter with their prolific slot-T offense 1-2 combination of junior running backs, Joe Pitchford and Noah Long. Pitchford is averaging 188.5 yards per game while Long averages 144.5 yards.

Liberty Hill edged Georgetown last season 17-13 at Birkelbach Field.

Bowie Looks to Stay Unbeaten

In tonight's 26-6A matchups, Bowie will look to stay unbeaten as they will face 0-2 Del Valle, while Lake Travis looks to get off the schnied as the 0-2 Cavaliers take on 0-2 Buda Johnson at Shelton Stadium.

26-6A Commences District Schedule

With the area’s only 9 team district, District 25-6A kicks off district play this weekend with a quartet of games.

On Thursday, defending 6A-DII state champ Westlake, ran its winning streak to 43 as the Chaps routed Akins 56-6. Austin High (1-2)notched its first win of the young season as Sam Eccles booted a 48-yard field goal with 23 ticks remaining to give the Maroons a 21-20 triumph over previously undefeated Anderson High (2-1).

In other action Thursday, Stony Point stayed unbeaten as the Tigers tamed Pflugerville 56-7. McCallum earned its first victory nipping Connally 31-28 as Dash Levy nailed a 40-yard field goal as time expired, while San Marcos bowed to SA Wagner in a nailbiter 42-41.

Newcomer to 6A, Dripping Springs has a bye.

As teams kick off Friday for Week 3 of high school football play in the Austin area, Lake Travis seeks to avoid going 0-3 for the first time in more than 20 years. Other schools, such as McNeil seek to move to 3-0 for the first time in a decade.
