Recap: Indiana women's basketball beats Michigan State, moves on in Big Ten Tournament

The first step in the Indiana women's basketball team's postseason journey begins today.

IU is the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and will take on No. 9 Michigan State. The Spartans advanced on Thursday with a 67-64 victory over No. 8 Nebraska.

Indiana enters the tournament as the second-best team in the country (USA TODAY Coaches Poll) with a 26-2 overall record (16-2 Big Ten). While the Hoosiers lost their final regular season game to Iowa, they won a Big Ten title for the first time since 1983.

Michigan State finished the season with a 16-13 overall record (7-10), but it was only one of two teams to beat IU this season when MSU won 83-78 in East Lansing on Dec. 29, 2022.

That was the only time the two teams faced off this season, so the Hoosiers will be looking to avenge a rare loss.
