Live movie nights 'Jurassic Park,' 'Lord of the Rings' in Cleveland Orchestra's Blossom lineup

Live movie nights for "Jurassic Park" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" are part of a partial lineup the Cleveland Orchestra has announced for the 2023 Blossom Music Festival at the orchestra's summer home in Cuyahoga Falls.

The orchestra's popular film series with live accompaniment will continue July 7-9 with a 30th anniversary performance of "Jurassic Park," featuring John Williams' iconic score, and "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" July 28-30, the second in the movie trilogy based on the novels of J.R.R. Tolkien with the epic score by Howard Shore.

The lineup also will include an evening of Broadway classics by six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald Aug. 13. The Broadway icon, also star of CBS' "The Good Fight" and HBO's "The Gilded Age," will sing Broadway favorites by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, George Gershwin and others, plus songs from her latest album, "Sing Happy."

Here are the other announced concerts for the 54th Blossom Music Festival:

July 1: The Cleveland Orchestra and Blossom Festival Chorus will perform Beethoven's masterpiece Symphony No. 9 ("Choral"), ending with the famous "Ode to Joy."

July 2-4: The Blossom Festival Band will perform "Salute to America," a star-spangled celebration with patriotic marches, Broadway favorites and an armed forces salute. The night will end with fireworks, weather permitting.

July 16: Blossom favorite Capathia Jenkins will perform "She's Got Soul," singing a wide-ranging revue of R&B classes. The vocal powerhouse will perform the soulful hits of Adele, Toni Braxton, The Jackson 5, Earth, Wind and Fire, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder and more.

July 23: Celebrated artists Jean-Yves Thibaudet (piano) and Michael Feinstein (piano and vocals) will join forces for the first time for "Two Pianos: Who Could Ask for Anything More," celebrating the Great American Songbook. They'll perform the music of Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers and George Gershwin, including "Rhapsody in Blue."

Sept. 1-3: "Disney: The Sound of Magic" will celebrate 100 years of Disney's most beloved films as favorite characters and soundtracks come to life on the concert stage and big screen in a live-to-film concert. The concert will celebrate "Peter Pan," "Moana," "Aladdin," "The Jungle Book," "Frozen," "The Lion King," "Fantasia" and more.

Single tickets are on sale now, ranging from $25 to $121. Full Blossom Music Festival programming will be announced in early 2023.
