"It's all just a really good way and event to kick off the summer here in Charlevoix with all sorts of sales and family fun," said Charlevoix Area Chamber of Commerce events coordinator Caitlin Cole.

This year's event marks the 10 year anniversary of the Charlevoix Summer Open, which will bring families a number of activities to take part in from 4-8 p.m. during the event. Different offerings include: a pop-up shop at the Clothing Company, extended happy hour from 4-8 p.m. at the Weathervane, drink and dinner specials at Scovies, $10 off a $30 or more purchase at Glik's, and more.

"It's really a time for our downtown stores to have some fun with sales and giveaways to show off their new summer collections," said Cole.

"A lot of them team up with other stories and offer refreshments, snacks, drink or different things like charcuterie boards. This is all, of course, paired with live entertainment for a fun evening," she said.

Cole also said that new this year is the teaming up of the cultural corridor with offerings from the Charlevoix Public Library, Circle of Arts and Historical Society.

"They all have a lot of fun activities and things they are doing for the event," she said.

She added that "the library is going to have a live chainsaw artist, the Historical Society is doing a presentation titled 'How the Pine River Became Charlevoix 1721-1869,' and the Circle of Arts will be hosting different art activities for kids to do as well as artist demonstrations for others to watch and lawn games."

Cole said she is "excited to see people out and about."

"It's also been exciting as a lot of our summer stores are just opening and this is a great way to welcome them back for the season and celebrate the great summer ahead," she said.
