Live nativity draws visitors from far and wide

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton Christian Tabernacle held its 24th annual drive-thru, live nativity over the weekend at the church, 23891 Airport Road.

Luminaries lighted the way as visitors drove through scenes that depicted the birth of Jesus Christ and other well-known events of His life. The 10-minute journey started at the market place in Bethlehem where the dreaded tax collector awaited, followed by the inn which was full for the evening, leading to the stable where Joseph, Mary and the baby Jesus find rest.

A host of heavenly angels alert the shepherds guarding their sheep with good news of Jesus’ birth, while the Wise Men worship the newborn Christ child. The journey was completed with scenes of the most told stories about Jesus. These included the carpenter’s shop, Jesus walking on water, a soldier praying at the cross and, most importantly, Jesus at the tomb.

Scores of church members donated time, talent, animals and costumes to bring the gift of the Christmas story alive to the community. In a press release, the church called the nativity a free Christmas gift to the community which has become a holiday tradition for many.
